Today’s wedding sees us head across to Hertfordshire for this lovely family friendly wedding set in a small vineyard. Victoria and Tom chose to have an intimate wedding of 19 guests focusing on the things that meant the most to them, family, good friends, delicious food and wonderful wine. Choosing to do most things themselves this wedding is full of personal touches and lots of character. Lucy Noble Photography did the honours with the photos and the results are wonderful.
Victoria and Tom were married on the 19th of Aug 2016 at Frithsden Vineyard, Hertfordshire. ‘Our entire relationship is about food and wine! We wanted something true to us and rustic with a real feel. We only had 19 guests (we had a party on the Saturday for 100!) and it took 6 months to plan
How they met
We worked in the same town and the minute our paths crossed I knew we would marry. We have been together 3 years.
The Proposal
Boxing Day 2015, Tom made a walkway through our house leading to him, I walked through pictures of us, all we had done, our journey with candles and our song playing, “The Pierces – We Are Stars” he was on one knee with our daughter Willa, with a beautiful ring waiting for me… we cried, no words, just tears!! We then went for a lovely walk as a family.
How did you spend your budget?
We just spent as we went, keeping a list and a track of what we spent, we managed to keep everything including the honeymoon with in a modest budget!
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
The honeymoon was our splurge, what we wore was where we saved, mixing high street with vintage and designer.
Why did you choose your photographer?
Her pictures are stunning plus she was local and knew the venue, from the moment we met Lucy we knew she had to take our pictures, she was an absolute pleasure to work with…
The Dress
My main dress (I had 3!) was by Jarlo – a vintage style dress but new…
The Suit and Bridesmaids
The suit was a DIY combo, we had no bridesmaids, just my girls and they wore what they wanted to!
Theme or colour scheme
We were aiming for Natural and Organic…
Flowers
Eucalyptus and Gypsophila, and a sunflower grown by Willa that summer, put together by my mum and me.
What sort of decoration did you have?
Vintage ladders, oriental lanterns and silver buckets.
Food
Spanish! Paella and Tapas.
Wedding Cake
Layered cheeses cake, very stinky but oh so delicious
Entertainment
Our 20 month old daughter Willa Rose caused most commotion and was the entertainment and the cat that belonged to the Vineyard…
Stationery
I designed the invites myself and we used a printers in St Albans.
Personal Touches
We pretty much did everything ourselves, from setting up the venue to making to the flowers…
Special Moments
When the sun came out, being altogether as a family.
Advice for Other Couples
Be you and relax, you are getting married because you love each other and it’s your day.
Biggest Surprise
