This week we have Lips

Get Lippy
Fresh natural plump look lips can make your whole face look instantly youthful. In the weeks leading up to your wedding, make sure you exfoliate and moisturise. To exfoliate, apply some Vaseline or lip balm to an old tooth brush and gently rub the lips using circular motions. Afterwards, slather your lips with a good lip conditioner such as Superbalm Lip Treatmentby Clinique. It’s a good idea to apply this at night so it can work its magic while you sleep!

Starting with freshly prepared lips, use a neutral lip liner like Bobbi Brown lip liner in ‘Blush’ to line the lips. Make sure the pencil is sharp and use a short sketching motion to gradually build up the line around the lips. Once you have done this, colour in the centre of your lips using the liner too. This will provide a good base for your lip colour making it extremely long lasting.

Next apply a long lasting lipstick using a brush. I find that Pro Long wear Lipcreme by Mac lasts extremely well and can be reapplied later without flakiness. Once you have applied one coat, blot the lips using a single ply tissue then reapply the lip colour for the second time.

Finally, to highlight and plump the lips, apply a lip gloss such as Bobbi Brown shimmer lip gloss in ‘Confetti, to the centre of the lower lip. Don’t be tempted to coat the entire lip in a thick layer of gloss. This will make the lip colour slide and that is the last thing you want in your wedding pictures. If you are wearing a veil, I suggest highlighting the bottom lip with a shimmery shade of lip colour instead of the gloss. This will mean that you won’t end up with your lips sticking to your veil as you say “I do!”

After you have outlined your mouth follow up with a shiny gloss or sheer lipstick. Avoid dark lipsticks because they will only emphasize how small your lips are.
