Today we have a wonderful wedding which has been beautiful captured by Ed Brown Photography. The wedding takes Leicester, starting at the brides mum’s garden and then carrying on at City Rooms in Leicester. The wedding is a beautiful summer affair with a pretty lilac theme, from the bridesmaids dresses to the flowers, to the paper straws. A gorgeous morris minor takes Amy and Lee from the church to the reception, the perfect addition to this fab wedding.
Amy and Lee were married on 1st August 2015 at St Philip and St James Church, drinks in Amy’s mum and dad’s rose garden (next door to the church), and the reception at the City Rooms in Leicester city centre. ‘We got maried there due to family connections to the church and village, The City Rooms is beautiful inside and was a perfect location for all Lee’s family and friends travelling from Ireland because it is central and therefore easy to get accommodation. We had 120 guests and it took around a year from when we booked the venue to plan it all’
How they met
Lee still believes that Amy ‘went to an Irish bar, lookin a wee Irish man’ and found one. We were both working in the UAE in Abu Dhabi and were lucky enough to meet out there.
The proposal
We were travelling for a few months around South East Asia and had gone up to the North of Thailand, Chang Mai, where we visited an incredibly beautiful canyon filled with water. There was no one else around and we walked along a sliver of rock that jutted out into the centre of the canyon and Lee got down on one knee. It was incredible and a complete surprise.
How did you allocate your budget
Most of our budget went on food, drink and a brilliant band (The Fanatics).
Where did you splurge and how did you save
We splurged on the band and the cake. Amy’s mum is a genius and turned a rather average wedding dress into something incredible and also made the bouquets and pin holes so we managed to save money there.
How did you choose your photographer
Ed had many awards, his previous photos were beautiful and we liked his documentary style.
The dress
The dress and veil were made/altered by Amy’s mum but the dress originally came from Bradgate Brides and is a Phoenix Gown.
The suit and bridesmaids
The suits were Remus Uno and accessories were made by Lee’s aunts company, Tailored Image. The bridesmaid dresses were ordered online and altered by Amy’s mum.
Theme or colour scheme
As soon as we found the bridesmaids dresses we went with the lilac colour as our theme
Flowers
Spring flowers
Decoration
Flowers on the tables and bunting in the garden.
Food and Cake
Bruschetta, pork belly and stick toffee pudding, With an M&S white chocolate and it was delicious!
Entertainment
A band on in the evening who played all night so no need for a DJ.
The stationery
Amy made it.
Special moments
Walking down the aisle and getting married, drinks in Amy’s mum and dad’s garden and the first dance was brilliantly fun.
Advice for other couples
Whatever happens it will be the most incredible day. No one will remember the décor, flowers or favours so don’t worry yourself over them.
Biggest surprise of the day
Lee and Amy surprised each other with gifts on the morning which were complete surprises, Amy’s dad’s prayer which had the whole church tearing up and Amy’s uncle had a bottle of moet and glasses ready to drink in his car on the way to the wedding venue.
