I don’t know about you but this week seems to be whizzing past, I can’t believe it’s Thursday already! I hope the week is treating you well? I have a gorgeous wedding for you today, a funfair themed wedding with a lovely outdoor ceremony. The wedding took place at Lillibrooke Manor in the gardens, with the reception in the most stunning barn. Caroline and James went to town with the decoration and created a truly magical day. With lots of funfair games their guests were kept suitable entertained throughout the day, finishing off with a Freddie Mercury tribute act. Big thanks to Alexandra Jane for the images.
‘It goes without saying that it is always an immense honour to be invited to photograph someone’s wedding. And some weddings just stay with you. Like every time I hear Queen or Freddie Mercury I automatically think about Caroline & James’ wedding and I’m sure it’s the same for a lot of their friends and family, but more about that later. After the ceremony, guests were serenaded by string trio Reflection Strings while relaxing with champagne and canapés and I took Caroline & James away to do some beautiful portraits of the two of them’
The venue
Caroline & James’s were married on 30th August 2014 at Lillibrooke Manor. A stunning combination of original manor house and barn setting makes this venue completely unique. They chose to get married outside, which was the first outdoor ceremony I’ve ever shot and it was simply beautiful. When Caroline walked down the grassy aisle strewn with rose petals she looked breathtaking.
The Dress
Caroline’s hair and make-up were done by Rebecca McMahon her dress was Intuzuri and her incredible veil was made by her (very clever) mum. Caroline designed her own shoes through the website Upper Street, she obviously takes after her mum.
Flowers
One of the most striking things about this wedding was the floral design. Sonning flowers provided the beautiful rustic style flowers including ‘pew ends’ which were gorgeous jam jars filled with wild flowers.
Entertainment
After dinner the couple had chosen an old skool DJ set to kick off the entertainment The Winchester Collective got everyone in the party mood, spinning some vinyl. And then for the last surprise of the evening they had a Freddie Mercury tribute act (Billy West) to come and entertain everybody. Their guests were clearly loving it and the look on their faces when Freddie walked in was priceless. Like I mentioned earlier, I can’t listen to Queen or Freddy Mercury without being pleasantly reminded of their wedding day.
Buy or DIY your Stationery
Did I mention that James is a really talented graphic designer so he did all of the invitations, the seating plan and the signage in the barn for the wedding breakfast. Their cake made by Shelly’s Cake Creations complemented everything. The barn which was set up for the wedding breakfast was truly stunning. From the bunting strewn from the beams to the fairground styled centerpieces for the table, it was clear that this couple were super creative and very clever at bringing everything together. I loved this wedding!!
Biggest surprise
Caroline & James had planned there day to be full of fantastic surprises for their guests, they really wanted to make sure everyone had a great time. They hired fairground stalls from Rides for Hire to keep them entertained during the drinks reception. Guests could go on the shooting gallery, coconut shy, rings and blocks and play darts to win real prizes.

What a fab wedding! The horse centrepieces are amazing. I’d love to know where they came from.
