Today I am taking you off to Sunny California for this gorgeous Ranch wedding, filled with the most amazing decor and the cutest couple. Casey and Dustin were married on 18th November 2017 at Santa Margarita Ranch, Santa Margarita in California. The day was captured perfectly by Loveridge Photography and I just love it all! Casey and Dustin are such a gorgeous couple, their first look is super sweet, followed by their stunning outdoor ceremony. I just love the neutral colour palatte of pale greys and blues, coupled with the flowing greenery over the tables and the bouquets. As for the reception venue, oh my, how amazing! I know you are going to love this wedding as much as I do.
‘Casey and Dustin got married in the fall since Dustin is a firefighter so it was his off-season. He’s a Central Coast native while shes’ from Manhattan Beach. Casey is no stranger to planning events since she does it full-time for a local winery. They were the sweetest couple and I couldn’t love their style more.’
How they met
We met our first year at Cal Poly and started dating in February 2008. 9+ years later, Dustin proposed on our favorite hike in SLO called “High School Hill”. The next day, Dustin surprised me by inviting all of our closest family and friends to Sunday brunch to celebrate!
Tell us about your wedding
We wanted our wedding to be just about us and what we wanted. We did our own personal vows, and left out some of the traditions that typical weddings might include, such as the garter & bouquet toss and money dance. We did not include any religious traditions. Just about us! We wanted our color palette to have a natural feel, so we had the girls in pastel blue, the guys in grey, and the florals were green. It all looked really nice together and we liked this neutral palette.
The outfits
We just wore what we would be comfortable in! My dress was stretchy, and he actually already had his suit from his buddy, Jimmy’s wedding. Three of the five guys in his wedding party already had the suits as well, so it just worked out well with only two of the groomsmen having to get new suits. My dress had a long train, so I didn’t see a need for a veil, and instead found a lovely gold headpiece that was the perfect adornment. I found my earrings in Ireland with my mom and friend that is from Ireland- all of my accessories came together so nicely.
The wedding decor
We kept it simple with eucalyptus garlands and mercury glass votive holders for the reception tables. The twinkle lights in the barn combined with king table seating and these elements looked romantic but not overdone. We didn’t DIY much other than the guys’ boutonnieres, and our own hair and makeup.
The Flowers
We included silver dollar eucalyptus in the girls’ bouquets as well as in the boutonnieres, and this tied in well with the eucalyptus garlands. We liked a neutral palette to add a softness to our wedding but not draw attention away from us.
Personal touches
We included corn hole as a form of entertainment during cocktail hour. We also provided pulled pork sliders as a late night snack for our guests. One of our favorite parts of our wedding was when we surprised the ceremony just before our recessional when we each pulled out a pair of red sunglasses. My dad pulled this same stunt at my mom and dad’s wedding, except this was a surprise even to my mom! It was so much fun including my parent’s fun in the wedding, making it a tradition.
Special moments
The first look! He looked so handsome. He waited for me to get to the porch where we did our first look for 20 minutes. He refused to see any of my wedding day outfit leading up to our wedding day, which made our reveal that much more special.
Advice for other couples
Hire Tina! And hire a wedding coordinator. This person takes all of the stress off of the bride and groom, allowing them to properly enjoy the greatest day.
Wow! Casey and Dustin’s wedding was really well done. Very rustic and elegant at the same time! It was simple yet not simple. I love how everything looked elegant but if you looked closely, it was actually a very laidback wedding with a lot of personal touches. The donuts at the reception, the red sunglasses that Casey borrowed from her parent’s wedding, the elegant reception interior that was actually inside of a barn, the fact that the wedding dress looked expensive yet probably wasn’t etc. I also liked that the theme was “Just About Us” when they had the wedding. There was minimal decoration because they wanted the focus to be on them. This wedding was very personal and making a wedding your own is what weddings are all about. It’s late and they’ll probably never read this but congrats to Casey and Dustin!
Congrats!
