2014 Wedding Trends – Floral Hair from Vintage Styler

2014 Wedding Trends – Floral Hair

The new year brings new wedding trends! We have seen all sorts over the years some that I love and some that I am not so keen on, but what is going to be BIG in 2014? What can you not live without for your wedding, and what do you need to avoid? Personally I think it’s important to look at the trends but not just follow them for the sake of it, you have to choose the trends that work well for you and your style, other wise your wedding could end up looking forced and just not you! One trend that I do feel is here to stay for quite a while though is Floral Hair. It was big last year and I predict it will be even bigger this year. Today I have the lovely Amy from Vintage Styler here to tell you more about this trend and how you can emulate it in your own wedding.

There are a lot of major wedding trends for 2014 emerging already – we’re loving metallic wedding cakes, and you can’t go wrong adding a touch of on-trend Pantone colour of the year; radiant orchid, to your wedding look! However, one trend is standing out against the rest, and we’re really eager to give it a try; floral bohemian bridal hair!

The basic principle is you braid or thread fresh flowers into your hair, which gives a natural, vintage style to your wedding hair. It’s easier than you think, you simply add a little florists wire and a few bobby pins to the fresh flowers, then you can slot them into braids or buns as you wish. Adorning yourself in roses, peonies, and baby’s breath as you wish really makes you instantly feel a bit like one of Disney’s wilder princesses.

If you’re worried about the flowers falling out, you could even make them into a crown, which always looks luxurious and beautiful, especially when it is tall and dramatic! Start with a blank hairband and wire flowers into the desired position; of course, this is a tricky task as fresh flowers will likely need to be wired into a hairband on the day of the wedding so they don’t droop overnight, so bring along a skilled team of bridesmaids to help you!

Fresh flowers can also be alternated with glittering floral inspired fascinators with Swarovski crystals, this is especially good if you want to add just a touch more sparkle to your overall look!

Finally, to finish everything off go for a long, flowing wedding dress with gypsy style beading like this one from Alice Temperley – flowing dresses combined with flowing hair and plenty of fresh flowers always makes for a striking, naturally beautiful overall look!
