Today on Bridal style we are talking about your bridal hair accessories and how to get the styling right along with your hair and make up looks. There are so many things to think about when it comes to your overall ‘look’ on your wedding day. The dress comes first and after that there are a whole host of accessories to think about. Getting the hair and make up to blend in with your chosen dress and head piece is very important, as one look may not work for another.
So today I am welcoming Amy from Vintage Styler who is talking us through 5 key wedding looks and how to mix them with the right hair and make up, she will be also talking us through a few options for hair accessories to go with each look.

Grecian

Taking inspiration from the likes of Denise van Outen and Eva Longoria, it’s no wonder grecian inspired weddings are hugely popular. With a sunkissed glow and loose waves this look is beautifully suited to beach weddings and summary garden parties. The Lana forehead band by Debbie Carlisle is a stunning, handmade diamante chain piece with a romantic organza ribbon fastening which just oozes Grecian goddess! Add plaits and keep makeup dewy and natural to finish the look.

With a glamorous mixture of pearls and sparkles, the beaded lace comb by Rocks for Frocks styled with fishtail plaits or rope plaits is perfect for subtle Grecian style. I love this with heavy eye makeup with layered gold tones and metallic browns, and finished with a sheer foundation and creme blush for an effortless glow. This comb can be worn to the front of the head in the style of a side tiara, or placed in the back of a style as a more traditional comb.

Classic/Traditional

Brides looking for a classical look would be ideally suited to the Rocks For Frocks small vintage tiara paired with a structured up do and flawless makeup. Take inspiration from the ultimate in traditional bridal style, Kate Middleton and finish with a full length veil, worn over the face if you fancy!

For a traditional bridal look with a vintage twist, hair swept up into a high smooth bun looks fabulous with the Rocks for Frocks Gabriella pearl hair clip pinned into the back for subtle elegance. Add a veil either under the bun to show off the clip, or since this style is perfect to withstand the weight of a full veil, place it high up in front of the bun for a dramatic look.

Vintage

For an on-trend vintage 20’s glamour look, the Jo Barnes Lula comb with 20’s inspired finger waves or retro waves is pure vintage style! Dark eyes and lips and super defined eyebrows are a must for true 1920’s style

We’re so excited to welcome the Lily Bella birdcage veil collection to VS, they’re a stunning variety of styles which you can mix and match to suit your style, whether you want a flirty 50s style or something a bit more sparkly! We love the Poppy bow with dotty birdcage veil, add an intense flick of black liner to the top lid and a bright pop of colour for lips, and wear hair in any style – this veil is extremely versatile

Statement

Brides after a statement vintage hair piece perhaps to balance a more understated dress, would be best to choose a more simple, unfussy hair style such as a down style with big Cheryl Cole style curls. Add the Jo Barnes Audrey Rose Side Tiara, an oversized, crystal encrusted rose sat on a silver plated, marquise crystal covered band for a super sparkly, eye catching look.

Rocks for Frocks’ Jeanne side tiara is a stunning hair piece which is bound to stand out! Wear with a simple but effective half up style to make this the focal point of your outfit. Jeanne looks fabulous with a full length veil for a statement bridal look.

Understated

For brides wanting a more understated accessory to balance an extravagant dress, or to compliment a simple shift style wedding dress, an elegant pearl headband is the perfect way to pull off this look. I really love 1960’s style, and this pearl headband by Rocks for Frocks would set off a 60’s Brigitte Bardot inspired beehive style and heavy eye makeup perfectly!

A tousled side bun is so easy to wear, simple to accessorise and is pure effortless glamour! Team this soft hairstyle with defined makeup to achieve a more polished look. Simply add a small hair pin or comb to add detail, plus this look can be dressed up with a veil if you fancy!
