As you all know I LOVE Ibiza, it’s where I was married and I hold a very special place in my heart for this amazing Island! So when I was sent in this gorgeous Ibiza Wedding from Lee Scullion I knew I had to share it with you. The wedding is set in the north of the island in land, at a venue I have had the pleasure of visiting and it really is a very lovely place! With a hint of vintage thrown in for good measure this wedding is full of soft nudes and pinks and the most gorgeous veil! and what make it most special is that Lee the photographer is the brides brother!

Stacey and Christian who were married on 8th June. The Catholic Church ceremony was held at San Carlos Church, Ibiza followed by reception at Argortourism Can Gall, San Juan Ibiza www.agrocangall.com Agrotourismo Can Gall is a 200 year old finca converted by Santi and his family into a stunning boutique hotel, set in orange and lemon groves in the north Ibiza hills. With only 12 rooms our stay was exclusive to us and our wedding guests. We had 65 guests and it took 12 months to plan.
How they met
Christian and I met through mutual friends in 2008 and within weeks it was like we had been together forever. They say opposites attract and this is certainly true in our case but there is a perfect balance between us – me being the organised, planning-freak and Christian being the laid back, spontaneous one – that just works.
Christian whisked me away on a surprise trip to Venice for my 30th birthday. He proposed in a fabulous restaurant overlooking St Marks Square with the most beautiful vintage pear shaped diamond ring.
What made you decide to get married where you did? We both dreamed of a relaxed wedding in a sunnier climate and as we adore the island of Ibiza it seemed the perfect location. We also wanted a location that would be flexible for our guests and as Ibiza is only a 2-3 hour flight from the UK, it allowed our family and friends to come for between 2 days to 2 weeks.
Arranging a Catholic wedding in Ibiza proved to be quite tricky at first but we enlisted the help of Sam Hocking from Wedding Ceremonies Ibiza www.weddingceremoniesibiza.com who liaised with the priest, helped with our paperwork and also provided the music and solos during the ceremony itself. We definitely could not have done without Sam’s help!
Why did you choose your photographer?
My brother Lee Scullion is a wedding photographer so at first he was the obvious choice. However we wanted him to enjoy the day and not be ‘working’ so we started to look for an Ibiza-based photographer to allow Lee to be part of the celebrations. But even though there are some great photographers in Ibiza, no one came close to Lee. He is just brilliant and he captured the emotions, essence and story of the day perfectly.
After trying on 55 wedding dresses (yes really!) I finally found ‘the one’ at a Newcastle Boutique YAP Bridal I had become quite disheartened by the whole process with some boutiques feeling very impersonal and almost like a conveyor belt. Jo and her team at YAP were amazing and really took the time to get to know you as a bride and understand what you wanted from your dress. They stock some beautiful gowns, many vintage inspired and I chose Tabitha by Charlotte Balbier in antique gold lace.
I changed the appliqué detail to a pearl drop Stephanie Browne brooch www.stephaniebrowne.com.au, a gift from my lovely bridesmaids.
I designed a cap style veil myself using an extra cut of the lace of my dress from Charlotte Balbier and added a smaller pearl brooch from Liberty in Love
My shoes were dusky pink suede peep toes with jewelled detailing by Zara.
The suit and bridesmaids
My 5 bridesmaids were in long nude pink pleated maxi dresses by French Connection with pink peony wrist corsage.
The groomsmen were in blue suits by Next.
My two flower girls aged 8 and 5, were in pixie-like pink pleated dresses by Monsoon with flower crown headbands.
The colour scheme was very dreamy – creams, nudes and pink.
My bouquet was a posy of soft pink & white peonies & soft foliage
As our wedding was quite late in the day, there was limited time for entertainment so we enlisted the skills of our friend Ian Blevins – a DJ from our home town and resident at Space in Ibiza during the summer – to play Ibiza chill out music as our guests enjoyed pomegranate cava and canapés in the gardens of Can Gall then a mix of house, funk and mowtown after dinner as we danced until the early hours.
Canepes: Our welcome Aperitif was warm crispy bruschettas topped with sun blush tomatoes, balsamic glaze and parmesan shavings and crushed fresh pea, mint and crumbled baked feta. Accompanied by bowls of Toasted Spanish Almonds
Starter: We had a Mezze of Tapasto start which included Warm Crispy Jabugo chorizo bites sprinkled with smoked paprika, Buffalo mozzarella, Serrano ham & chilli –balsamic – fig Jam, Marinated Spanish Lemon & Basil marinated queen olives, Wood roasted sweet jerez marinated whole red pepper and roasted vegetable antipasti, Authentic roasted garlic Ali oli, Homemade Black Olive, sundried tomato & pine nut tapenade, Tail on Gambas a la plancha with garlic & parsley extra virgin olive oil, Aged Manchego cheese slices served with sweet red onion confit.
Main: For main course there was a choice of Medallions of fillet steak served with a rosemary – rioja jus or Parmesan and sun blush tomato stuffed chicken breast rotolo wrapped in a crisp Serrano ham shell. Served with sided of Wild rocket, plum cherry tomato and vintage parmesan salad with warm toasted pine kernals and slow caramelised red onions, Fresh Orange, honey and rosemary glazed roasted new potatoes sprinkled in Maldon sea salt and Chargrilled Asparagus and sweet oven roasted cherry tomatoes drizzled in homemade basil pesto and served with whole roasted garlic bulbs.
Dessert: APetit Dessert indulgence platter with TO DIE FOR Bite sized amaretto scented chocolate fudge brownies, mini orange blossom and Madagascan vanilla bean baked cheesecake stacked with fresh strawberries, 70% coco warm chocolate fudge dipping sauce and cool fresh cream.
Cake: Our cupcakes was a tier of Madegascan Vanilla and Raspberry & White chocolate decorated with lavender and soft pink rose petals.
• We found our order of service cards in Etsy – small brown card style booklets tied in navy ribbon to match the grooms suits.
• On the tables we had a vintage style display of glass jars and birdcages with fresh peonies, roses and soft green foliage, pearl beads draped and scattered pink rose petals. The 6 tables were named after places we had travelled to together – Thailand, Cambodia, Dubai, Venice, Barcelona and of course Ibiza!
• The table plans were hung from the trees by white lace ribbon and an old vintage key to weigh the card down.
• We printed names onto brown luggage tags and tied the napkins with ‘to have and to hold’ stamped ribbon.
• We also placed sandalwood fans on the tables for the ladies.
• On our cake table we displayed vintage photo frames with photos of family and friends that were not there to share our special day.
• We also found a personalised guest book from not on the high street that featured a heart-shaped map on the front of Ibiza.
• The venue Can Gall itself was so pretty anyway with stunning gardens and orange and lemon trees in the vineyards so we simply added some large white lanterns that hung from the trees.
There were so many special moments of the day from the emotional email received on the morning of the wedding from my best friend (and missing maid) Alexandra who was back at home unable to fly as she had just given birth to the beautiful Eden, which had me in floods of tears, to the few minutes I shared getting ready with my bridesmaids as they helped me in my dress, to the knowing wink my dad gave me as we stepped into our Vintage white Mercedes on our way to the church.
We chose to feature modern songs during our Church service, songs that we just loved including First Time by Roberta Flack, Loving You by Minnie Riperton and Ave Maria by Beyonce. When we heard Sam Hocking sing the first note of First Time we – including our guests – were completely blown away by how amazing she was and there were a fair few tears, even from the boys!
It really is true what they say – the day goes by so quickly so it is really important to grab some time with your new husband/wife to take stock of the day and enjoy the moment.
Also, a word of advice if you are getting married abroad – don’t take the relaxed setting too literally and always leave enough time to get ready! On the morning of my wedding my maids and I enjoyed a lovely champagne breakfast and relaxed by the pool then all of a sudden it was all systems go and the getting ready part became quite stressful. Of course we laugh about it now – especially the make-up artist screaming at everyone to stop opening and closing the door, the three hairdryers going at once and me barking orders from my chair!
