Happy Monday everyone. How are you all doing? After a few days of reflection and...
We are heading off to the sunshine today for this beautiful Ibiza Wedding from Katie Palmer Photography. As you know Ibiza holds a warm place in my heart as I got married there 7 years ago, so I always love featuring weddings from this amazing island. Lauren and Elliot chose Elixir as their wedding venue and fell in love with it as soon as they saw it, they kept things classic with a vintage pink and white colour scheme and some pretty hanging decorations around the venue. Such a gorgeous day for a gorgeous couple.
Lauren and Elliot were married on 29th May 2015 at Elixir shore club, Ibiza, Cala codalor. ‘We first saw the venue looking on the Internet. Ibiza was always a place we thought of if we were to ever get married as we loved the island so much. We both instantly had a feeling that it was the perfect place for us to get married, it was absolutely stunning. We took a trip there a year before to have a look, my eyes filled up as soon as I walked in. I could picture us saying ours vows to one another looking over Es Vedra and everyone around us, we wanted something relaxed with beautiful views, especially the sun setting, above the beach. It ticks all the boxes! We had 65 guests, wanted to keep it intimate with close family and friends. We had a 2 year engagement, started planning it 6 months in.’
How they met
When we first met it was in a bar in London in the summer of 2008. We both went traveling separately later on in the new year, but stayed in touch along the way. When we both returned home our feelings for each other came clear and we fell in love very quickly and was inseparable. We have been together 7 years this November, 5 when we got married.
The proposal. He had got the ring designed and made hidden away in the house that we lived in. We were going on a trip to Croatia and Venice in a few weeks which his plan was to do it then. I was having a bath one Thursday evening and he came and got in with me. Behind his back was the ring and said he couldn’t help himself, it felt like the perfect moment being alone. He held it out to me and simply said smiling will you marry me and be my wifey for lifey.
How did you allocate your budget
We gave ourselves a budget in our heads, we spent bit by bit. Paid deposits off didn’t do it all at once, was much easier to allocate spending
Where did you splurge and where did you save
We provided our guests with a free bar all day and night. It came as a package. We saved money on having our wedding abroad, everything worked out to be a lot cheaper.
Why did you choose your photographer
Our photographer was Katie Palmer who I instantly thought of and knew would do an amazing job and was delighted to do our wedding in Ibiza. She had photographed friends of ours wedding in Italy so we had seen her work and was definitely to our taste. We wanted to feel comfortable and natural having our pictures taken which helped having someone who we knew.
My dress was a Pronovias gown. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it! I wore vintage antique accessories. A head piece made from water pearls and a droplet back necklace.
The suit and bridesmaids
The bridesmaids wore dusty rose colour two birds dresses with flower crowns that I found in Etsy. The groomsmen all wore matching navy suits from ASOS.
Theme or colour scheme
The colour scheme we had was vintage pink and white throughout. Very soft and romantic.
I had white roses and gypsophila for myself and bridesmaids, very soft not to structured. White roses for the button holes.
Kept everything flowing, had pink and white roses scattered all over the venue, over the pew, chairs, tables etc. Paper Lanterns and candles and a huge LOVE sign lit up the whole venue which looked so pretty at night! Lovely mood setting.
We had aperitifs and mini bruschetta after the ceremony, the evening meal was a Mediterranean menu. For starters was Spanish mezze tapas filled with prawns, cheese, chorizo, Parma ham, olives and sun dried tomatoes. The main course was a choice between Parmesan sun blushed tomato stuffed chicken or grilled line caught sea bass, wild rocket cherry plum tomato Parmesan vintage salad. Orange rosemary and honey new potatoes. Dessert was mini chocolate brownies and cheese cakes with warm salted caramel fudge chocolate dipping Sauce vanilla cream stacked with strawberries.
Top tier cake with Victoria sponge filling, pink and white butter cream icing with mini cup cakes around on a tier shaped in a love heart.
After the ceremony we had chill out jazz music played by the Lovely Laura on her saxophone. Was a beautiful chilled setting while everyone was having champagne and having pictures taken.
In the Evening we had a DJ who played a mixture of music to get everyone up dancing.
The venue supplied everything, they were amazing.
As the wedding was abroad we was limited to take things out with us, the venue did a lot which was amazing, we did do a few personal touches such as for the girls they each got a lace fan as it was hot and the ceremony was all outside. We wrote our own vows so they were more meaningful and more relaxed. We also made a playlist for the evening allowing guests to have one song choice which everyone loved. We provided buses to pick up all the guests and drop them home. It’s the little things that make a difference.
Advice for other couples
I would say to book the big and important things first. Venue, catering, photographer. Leave the little pretty things till last! Work out what you like and your theme and it will flow easily. Once you have that in order you can start to find your dress and bridesmaid dresses, and then you will know what colours to go for with decorations and flowers etc.
Biggest surprise was the food!! It amazed everyone how wonderful it all was! Perfect for the setting too.
