Emily and Dave’s Turquoise and Orange Wedding with 1,000 Paper Cranes and Origami Flowers by Kelli Wyland

For the last wedding of the week, we are taking a trip across the pond to Pennsylvania for a wedding filled with 1,000 paper cranes and a whole heap of DIY Origami Flowers, courtesy of Kelli Wyland.

The lovely couple are Emily and Dave who were married on 30th June. Both the ceremony and reception were held at Armstrong Valley Winery and Vineyard, Halifax Pennsylvania. ‘We were trying hard to find a spot that none of our friends had chosen for their weddings! Armstrong Valley was a brand new winery and we were one of their first weddings, we had 120 guests and it took a year to plan’

‘Our wedding was a quirky, fun, laid back affair filled with bluegrass, bocce, and ballyhoo!’

Special moments
Instead of lighting a unity candle during our ceremony, my husband and I folded our 1,000th paper crane together during the ceremony. While we did this, my brother, sister, and some old friends (who play violin) played a piece that my brother arranged.

Advice
ELOPE!! Haha….. no….. Don’t worry about rules and pleasing other people..just be YOU!

Biggest surprise
We were very fortunate to get a surprise change in weather. About an hour before the wedding, we were sure we’d get a thunderstorm. Right before the wedding however, the sun came out and the temperature dropped from about 95 down to the 80’s… it was wonderful!

I have been a photographer for the last 7 years mostly doing families, children and high school senior portraits.  I just started doing weddings this summer and absolutely love it.  This couple was really fun and artsy and I just loved working with them.  They had great personalities and I wanted to capture them and their wedding story through the photos.

Wow, 1,000 paper cranes that is some effort – they looked so pretty as well!! Seeing as I cant fold a piece of paper straight not sure this is for me … but best of all I loved the flowers all around the cake – gotta learn how to make those! :)
