I have the most gorgeous fairy tale of a wedding to share with you today, all the way from Florida. Talia and Rob were married on 17th February at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, Florida. Their planned vibe was eclectic, festive, whimsical, summer camp. The eclectic jewel-tone color scheme – emerald, sapphire, ruby, amethyst, and gold – added a vibrant pop to the natural setting. The couple loved bringing personal elements into their day and spent time collecting antiques to have around their venue. The flowers mirrored their colour scheme and added a beautiful extra element to the decoration. Big thanks to planner Amarvelous Event for the gorgeous submission and to Ledd Lens Photo & Film for the images.
Surrounded by tropical lush greenery and Chihuly glass sculptures of the spectacular Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, FL, Talia and Robert celebrated their wedding in an intimate garden ceremony. The selection of the venue was very special for the couple as the Bride’s late father had been the arborist of the garden. There was no place more meaningful to get married than under the trees that he manicured and cared for, having his presence felt throughout the day.
The dress code for this fun garden wedding was “Funky Formal, Garden Chic, Jewel Tones – Fashionistas go off! Comfortable dancing shoes are a MUST!”
The planned vibe was eclectic, festive, whimsical, summer camp. In the initial design meeting they referred to the whimsy of Alice in Wonderland, but not a kitschy theme, more the essence of it like a LaCroix. The eclectic jewel-tone color scheme – emerald, sapphire, ruby, amethyst, and gold – added a vibrant pop to the natural setting. The couple had a love for thrifting and antiques and utilized the months leading into their wedding to source a collection of colorful and antique bud vases that we provided to our florist to utilize as our centerpieces. We selected florals in the same jewel-toned deep red, purple and blue family.
Our ceremony was at the Allée and Overlook which features a long tree-lined walk from the guest garden entrance to the overlook terrace with a beautiful waterfront ceremony view. We had our cocktail hour under the spectacular Arboretum with an assortment of rented velvet jewel-toned antique furniture to place in vignettes amongst the intricate tree root systems. Our reception was in the Glasshouse Café with a butterfly garden as the backdrop behind the sweetheart table.
We developed an intricate lighting plan as the garden did not have a built-in system. Our three wedding spaces were spread throughout the large garden property, and guests needed to have lit pathways to explore their way from one space to the next. Our goal was to always enhance the natural beauty so we added uplights to the existing trees to showcase them as dusk fell. We also utilized an assortment of bistro lights and down lights along pathways.
In reception, two round tables with a middle long rectangular table created unique looking guest banquet tables. Food was an incredibly important aspect to the couple as the Bride is a professional chef and both the Bride and Groom were self-proclaimed foodies. They wanted to provide their guests with a food experience and decided on a custom-curated menu with family-style platter starters and a plated entre. The day was a sentimental, fun, and jovial celebration that brought this double-Irish family and their friends from around the globe all together to share the love of Talia and Rob.
