Yesterday on the blog we were talking about what to take into consideration when planning a weekend wedding or a wedding that spans several days. Well today I have the most gorgeous weekend wedding to share with you. Sarah and Jonathan were married on 22nd May 2025 in Costa Rica, and as they had over 100 guests flying over into Costa Rica they made sure the celebrations lasted longer than just the one day. The day itself was super laid back, fuss free and full of emotion. With blue glasses that matched the colour of the ocean, coupled with fresh white flowers, the tables looked natural and sophisticated, mixed with some laid back beach vibes. Big thanks to Event Planner Mil Besos Costa Rica and the photographer Kuba Okon Weddings.
Sarah and Jon’s wedding was a long-awaited celebration of a love that began during medical school in Philadelphia. Their story, marked by years of friendship, cross-country residency long-distance, and a surprise rooftop proposal complete with an after-party of 30 close friends and family, made this weekend even more special.
With over 100 guests flying to Costa Rica to celebrate, the couple exchanged vows with the Pacific Ocean as their backdrop—and danced the night away under disco balls and string lights.
The ceremony took place directly on the beach beneath the soft shade of native trees. Guests were seated in bamboo chairs, and the aisle was framed by a modern U-shaped floral arch placed in the sand. Sarah walked down the aisle in a timeless strapless gown with a long flowing veil, her look effortlessly elegant. Jon kept it classic in a light blue suit. The floral design was understated and soft, with a delicate bouquet for the bride and subtle touches of greenery in the bridesmaids’ arrangements and boutonnieres.
After the ceremony, guests made their way to a breezy cocktail hour. Wicker lounge furniture, hanging lanterns above the bar, and tall wooden cocktail tables with bud vases and candlelight set the tone for a relaxed and tropical vibe. Bistro lights were strung throughout the entire space, creating a warm glow as the sun set over Playa Conchal.
Dinner was held in Plaza del Mar, with a mix of teak wooden tables and white-linen-covered rounds. The couple opted for a clean and refined design featuring rattan chargers, soft blue goblets, and delicate candlelit centerpieces. The sweetheart table was placed at the top of the wood dance floor with its own romantic floral setup.
As night fell, the dance party kicked off beneath a canopy of twinkle lights and hanging disco balls. A long wood bar and cozy lounge sets encouraged mingling between beachside strolls and spins on the dance floor. The couple’s goal was to create a celebration full of love, laughter, and new friendships and their wedding weekend in Costa Rica delivered just that.
Beautiful wedding!
