Hello you lovely people! Yesterday I treated you to a gorgeous wedding from the UK, and today we are back with another destination wedding, this time from Barcelona. Aimee and Marcus were looking for a laid back, destination venue, that offered lots of different things all under one roof, this they found with the stunning Villa Almanita. A gorgeous venue that let their bridal party stay with them and left them enough space for both the ceremony and reception. The day was woven with accents of blue, along with some pretty gorgeous table flowers, a cheese tower and the most beautiful intimate ceremony. Amy Jordison Photography was there to capture the day for us.
Aimee and Marcus were married on 11th October 2025 at Villa Almanita, Sitges. ‘We’re both engineers, so we took quite a logical approach to finding a venue. We wanted to draw the wedding celebrations out but couldn’t afford a multiple day wedding in the UK. We looked for a venue abroad that would be easy for our guests to get to (we were half an hour from Barcelona airport). We wanted our grooms / bridal party in one venue, without it being ostentatious, whilst also being near enough to a town with various accommodation options for the rest of the wedding party. Villa Almanita ticked all our boxes on a practical level, was stunning and perfectly matched the vibe we wanted – rustic and unsophisticated. We had 55 guests and it took 2 years to plan.’
How did you meet
We met at university, on our Civil Engineering course (although we didn’t get together at uni). We’ve been together 6 years.
The proposal
Groom booked a Shepherd’s hut in the Lake District as a weekend away. He planned the full weekend, including walks and a luxury spa. He got down on one knee on the first night away, in front of the fire pit.
How did you allocate your budget?
We renovated our first house together in lock down, which we sold shortly after we got engaged. So we had a set amount of savings to spend on the wedding. We made the wedding fit our budget.
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We invested a lot of time in finding best value for money with every decision we made for the wedding. We stayed away from the wedding trends, which can quickly get costly, and made sure we did the basics well, investing in good vendors. We didn’t have a wedding planner, but we did have a coordinator on the day which was worth every penny.
How did you choose your photographer?
We wanted a documentary style of photography to capture the feeling and mood of the day. I trawled through Google and kept coming back to Amy’s website.
The dress
Dress by Watters, bought from Adele Howarth-Winstanley Bride in Uppermill. Shoes from Rainbow.
The suit and bridesmaids
The Groom and Best Man were in pale sage green linen suits from Slaters, Bolton. All groomsmen were in their own light grey and camel coloured linen suits. Bridesmaids dresses were a collection of complementary pale sage and blue dresses, from Coast, Six Stories and Monsoon. Three of the dresses had delicate embroidery details.
Theme or colour scheme
Whites and greens with accents of blue
Flowers
Whites and greens with accents of blue, in an organic, garden style using seasonal flowers. Key elements include flowers on the wooden arch at the end of the aisle, and a garland the length of the dining table. Provided by Brisa Flower Boutique.
Decoration
The Welcome sign and Table Seating Plan were made by hand by the mother of the bride. The Groom’s surname is Bell, so the signs include a bell design which was hand carved onto a stamp. Otherwise we left the venue to speak for itself.
Food
Incredible selection of canapes, including grilled octopus with mash potato, and steak with caramelised onion. Caprese or Chicken Caesar salad for starters, pork sirloin with truffle pasta, or spinach and ricotta cannelloni for mains, and chocolate coulant or vodka and lemon sorbet for desert. Provided by Cloud9.
Wedding cake
A tower of cheeses, provided by Cloud9. Accompanied with fresh fruit, chutneys and crackers.
Entertainment
We had a band called the Bob Standards, and created multiple Spotify lists for the different parts of the wedding.
Who supplied the stationery?
The Bride – All placeholders were a vintage, instant style photo of the bride and / or groom with the guest, with a personalised note on the back, sat on a mini easel.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Tanzania on a safari, followed by Zanzibar for some R&R.
Personal touches
Our celebrant was our best friend, who did a wonderful job of making the ceremony very personal. The bride’s brother composed an arrangement of Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley, and recorded himself playing the various parts to the music, for the bride and bridesmaids to walk down the aisle to. We also made a photo timeline with a photo of the Bride and Groom for every year growing up.
Special moments
Our speeches were quite magical because the wedding was so intimate, so everyone was involved. They were very relaxed and heartfelt with some hilarious moments.
Advice for other couples
Create the day you want. Only spend money on things that will add to your day. If you wouldn’t miss it, it’s not worth it.
Biggest surprise
I don’t think anything was a surprise really, it all went perfectly to plan. Before we entered the meal, there were about 5 seconds of rain – that was a surprise!

I’m now based in Sitges, Catalunya, Spain and I’m working with couples planning beautiful and luxurious destination weddings in this area, who like a relaxed approach but a high-end, editorial feel to their images.
Beautiful wedding!
