Happy Friday everyone! How are you this fine and sunny Friday? I am super excited as I am off to my first festival of the year tomorrow! I am hoping that it stays dry and that the sun keeps shining! the face glitter and sequins are ready and my dancing trainers have been dusted off! But before that I have this super unique Atlanta wedding to share with you. Elise and Michael were married on 21st September 2024 at The Supermarket in Atlanta, Georgia, an amazing venue that used to be a supermarket (hence the name.) The couple held a sweet ceremony then got changed and entertained their guests with their own music. This really is a fantastic day, filled with unique ideas and eclectic decoration. All captured by C Brown Photo | Atlanta Wedding Photographer.
Elise and Michael had two separate proposals (one for each other). Michael proposed to Elise at Amicalola Falls and surprised her with a stay at a nearby mountain resort. Elise proposed to Michael using the marquee of the Plaza Theatre (also wining and dining and watching Barbie).
The wedding took place at The Supermarket, an old grocery store turned vibrant, underground funhouse.
The newlyweds performed live music together after dinner, speeches and a first dance.
The wedding concluded with a social period of dancing and lounging.
Here’s Michael’s description of why they chose to perform at their wedding.
“My wife Elise and I got married a few months ago at the Atlanta art space The Supermarket. We feel strongly connected to the DIY art and music scene here and wanted our wedding to reflect that. We had whimsical decorations, bright colors, projections, and an art gallery. We had three moments of live music, and two curated and tightly synchronized playlists.
While Atlanta is our beloved home, about two thirds of our closest friends live outside of Georgia. Our wedding was an opportunity to show them how awesome this city is. My wife and I are a synth-pop duo called Flust, but all the out-of-towners have never gotten to see us perform. Also, before moving to Atlanta, Elise had never been in a band, so it was especially fun to show friends from her previous chapters her new skill.
After our wedding dinner, we called everyone to a deep blue painted room with a stage to play a short Flust set. We opened with a slow love song we had written specifically for our wedding. Our second song was an upbeat, flirty fan-favourite. We closed our set with a bombastic, evil-spirited jam where Elise jumped off stage and mimed stealing our friends’ souls as the crowd laughed and cheered. This signalled a cloaked figure, we referred to as the “shadow officiant” to trudge to the stage. There, in a deep ghoulish tone he demanded our wedding guests to vow their sinful spirits to our unity. Several crazy huge group photos later, our set was over.
We had a blast, and were relieved that everything went as planned. Performing at our wedding made us even closer and created a powerful memory of us with our community.”
