Todays wedding features one of my favourite flowers, Dahlia’s. Dahlia’s, peonies and proteas are probably in my top 3 favourite flowers, so I was delighted when this gorgeous wedding landed in my in box. Nora and Tim were married on 28th September 2024 in Catskill, New York. They held a modern wedding with the most stunning colour scheme of orange and peach to reflect the fall month of September. I just adore their decoration, simple, modern, clean and full of peach goodness. As for their chuppah what a delightful addition to their Jewish celebrations. A gorgeous day from start to finish all captured perfectly by Last Light Studio.
Nora and Tim insist they must have crossed paths at a college party during their senior year. Both attended Washington University in St. Louis, ran in overlapping social circles, and shared plenty of mutual friends. And yet, neither has a clear memory of that first meeting. Years later, after both had moved to New York, their paths finally converged, and they began dating. From the start, they knew an engagement was on the horizon. They even designed Nora’s ring together. One day, on their way to breakfast at her father’s house, Tim led Nora through a park, taking a slightly different route than usual. He handed her a crossword puzzle while they sat on a bench, solving it together. When she reached the final answer, it read: “WILLYOUMARRYME.” She looked up to find Tim already on one knee. To Nora’s surprise, when they arrived for breakfast, both of their families were there, waiting to celebrate.
Nora and Tim’s fall wedding was a seamless interplay of modernism and natural beauty, weaving the industrial charm of their venue with the organic elegance of the Hudson Valley. Foreland, a historic brick building in Catskill, New York, offered a striking contrast — its rugged interiors softened by a sprawling green lawn outside. “There wasn’t a specific theme or style to articulate, just something that felt like us,” the couple noted. That effortless authenticity shaped every detail. Their ceremony unfolded along the waters of Catskill Creek, framed by lush water plants and towering trees. A warm, autumnal colour story set the tone, with rich hues of orange and peach. Tim embraced the palette in a rust-coloured tuxedo, while Nora walked down the aisle in a minimalist Jenny Yoo gown, wearing her grandmother’s jewelry. Above them, their chuppah was draped in fabric lovingly embroidered by the same grandmother. The couple co-wrote their ketubah, which was designed and hand-painted by the bride’s sister and displayed at the reception. Family and friends contributed in countless ways — from Nora’s hand-sewn veil to the music and beauty preparations — ensuring the celebration was as heartfelt as it was breath taking.
