Real Weddings: A love of Vinyl

So last week I told you I wasn’t a huge fan of pre wedding shoots or engagement shoots, well I have yet again been proved wrong!!
Thanks to Shelly Mantovani From Toast in Leeds for sending in these fab images. Shelly will also be featured as My Guest Blogger next week, so look out for more of her imaginative work.

‘This is Lucy and Daniel – they’re from Leeds and get married later this year. They are a lovely, down-to-earth couple who wear their hearts on their sleeve. When I first mentioned a pre-wedding shoot, they seemed averagely excited, but then I mentioned making it themed around old vinyl, they absolutely jumped at the chance. I love to capture couples as they really are and whatever gets them excited makes for a better shoot and a better image. People who have a passion for something should always try and incorporate it into their wedding and I certainly think being surrounded by music they love suited Lucy and Dan down to the ground.’

‘This E-shoot was done in record time (geddit?). It was raining, it was towards the end of the day and I knew that the venue would start letting customers in within the hour. I had just one strobe with me and a bunch of old vinyl and knew I had to get the shoot in the bag in a short time. Pressure, as they say, was on. ‘

‘Daniel is a big music fan – more importantly, a big Beatles fan – so I figured where better to do our shoot than the grooviest bar in Leeds, Mojo. Home of the best cocktails, the greatest music and some of the best rock n roll photography ever. The management very kindly let us take over the place for an hour and didn’t mind too much that we were standing on their chairs and wandering behind the bar to get certain shots. If you’ve never been to Mojo, it’s a tiny place – very narrow, quite dark and not the best place to wave your 85mm lens around. Somehow we managed it.’

‘Just before we left Mojo, we headed out onto the street with my Elbow umbrella and took a few shots of them outside in the rain walking up and down the street. I’m sure they thought I was quite nuts getting soaked with cars whizzing by but they really love the umbrella shot, so I guess it was all worth it.’

Thanks so much to Shelly for sharing these images with us and Big Congratulations to Lucy and Daniel, lots of luck for your wedding later this year……I’m sure the wedding pictures will be as amazing as these are!
