‘Just Us Two’ Horseback Elopement Inspiration

Weddings don’t have to be about big crowds and big budgets, today we are celebrating the small and the intimate with this gorgeous boho horseback elopement styled shoot. The shoot took place in August 2022 at Brevard, North Carolina USA and features a couple very much in love and of course these gorgeous two horses. A lot of elopement inspiration takes place on mountain tops, so Kate the organiser of the shoot wanted to show that woodlands and rivers can also offer a great alterative, keeping things intimate and personal. The location is just gorgeous but the real stars of the shoot are of course these truly stunning horses! Big thanks to make adventure stories for the amazing photos.

This inspiration adventure elopement session was a whimsical boho dream. Starting with travel by the couple on horseback, a stylized vow renewal in a lush meadow, and ending the experience with some river exploration! Boho, heartfelt, it was a great “Just Us Two” elopement idea, or, an idea that’s possible for even an elopement with a small crew!

Kate the lady behind the shoot tells us more

I’m always on the search for new places and new ways for my couples to elope!  Not everyone wants to hike or climb a mountain, so I always want to show that adventure can look like SO MANY different things!  And, sometimes the beauty of the forest is what calls to couples vs mountains, and that forest view is not always shown in elopement inspiration, either!  So I wanted to create something that could inspire couples on a new idea, and, on what a beautiful forest elopement could feel like.

This Whimsical Horseback Elopement Inspiration Session had beautiful and unexpected elements that I had versioned:

Real travel to the ceremony site on horseback, with the couple in their boho-inspired wedding wear.
A mock vow renewal in a lush forest clearing with wandering horses as the couple’s attendants.
Beautiful details in a focal flower crown, and, a mobile, luxury picnic with giant macarons as “wedding cake!”
And, an end of the experience with some river exploration for sweet, loving portraits.

The boho, natural vibe carried throughout the adventure, as I wanted to show what fun elopement ideas could be possible when you embrace the beauty of nature, are creative in how you bring details & beauty into an “in motion” elopement, and look for the sweetness adding in unexpected elements brings!

I also wanted to talk a little bit about the creativity of this “mobile” elopement.  The portable picnic was styled by Asheville Luxury Picnics to harmonize with the natural elements this elopement inspiration celebrates.
Featuring sitting rugs (which doubled as their ceremony/vows “stage”), the picnic set up was carried in on horseback in a gorgeous, vintage, wearable, woven backpack carry-all.  Featuring perching pillows, and nature-inspired-colors for ceramic plates, cups, wooden serving platters & charcuterie board, and beautiful gold-hued utensils, it was a truly portable & functional YET beautiful and tasty meal for Shay and Isaac.
Every detail of their set up from rugs, to pillows was creatively carried up the trail in saddlebags on the horses!  So, I am always up for a good challenge in how to make “magic” happen with elopements in unusual places!

I feel like the images do capture the beautiful, boho spirit with the lush forest, the activity and the details/styling; I’m so happy about the adventure!
