English Country Garden Meets Boho Elegance Wedding Inspiration

Today I am taking you back to the summer when the sun shone and we could sit outside without a big winter coat on. Don’t worry those days are not far off, and this gorgeous styled shoot will remind us just how summer fells. The shoot took place on 12th July at Nunwell House & Gardens, Brading, Isle of Wight and it encapsulates a traditional English wedding venue with a love of all things Boho. With an amazing collection of Boho inspired decoration set against the elegant background of this stunning venue, Wed & Prosper and SJ Jones Photography take us through some amazing boho wedding ideas and fill us with some much needed outdoor wedding inspiration.

English Country Garden with a Boho Twist.

(From Steve) We were in the middle of Covid lockdowns/restriction’s, weddings were being cancelled or rescheduled by the day and there was so much uncertainty at the time. Business to business working for our sector had just opened up again, albeit with a lot of restrictions so when Carrie and Rachel from Wed & Prosper approached me with the idea I jumped at the opportunity. I have worked with Wed & Prosper many times and the attention to detail is always incredible.
(From Rachel) “We wanted to bring local suppliers together to be able to finally show off our creative flair and introduce ourselves back into the Isle of Wight wedding world. With covid restrictions shaping the immediate future of weddings it was also a good opportunity to show off a smaller style wedding. Nunwell House is an exceptional property and needed to be shown off.”

(From Rachel) “Our inspiration was English Country Garden, Boho Elegance. Just because you are at a traditional English home it doesn’t mean you can’t put your own take on it.”
(From Steve) The Isle of Wight has an abundance of manor house’s and stately homes which are incredibly beautiful but can sometimes feel quite “stuffy” or formal when it comes to hosting a wedding at one. We wanted to show that you can take a beautiful venue, which may often come with preconceived ideas about how to approach and style it and flip it on its head. Rachel and Carrie both do this incredibly well and blend the styles seamlessly without feeling gimmicky or like a theatre set.
As a documentary photographer I always take inspiration from my surroundings and wanted this shoot to feel the same as any other wedding. I took the same relaxed and natural approach I would for any big day so that those results could be replicated for any wedding that was setup in a similar way.

We wanted to plan a concept/design and show that working collaboratively with some of the best suppliers the Isle of Wight has to offer we can achieve it. I think given the time this shoot took place selfishly we all wanted that human interaction again and to show that the creative career paths we had all taken did have value despite the restrictions and views that were put on them. I think we accomplished it really well, individually the images showed exactly what each supplier could provide and collectively showed a vision and provided inspiration in itself to couples planning future weddings.
