Happy Friday everyone! Wow I can’t believe it’s Friday already. I only came back to the office properly on Wednesday, so this week has gone in a flash! How has your January been so far? Good I hope? On with today’s wedding and I am taking you off to East Yorkshire for the gorgeous barn wedding of Ella and Adam. This beautiful couple held an elegant country wedding with a touch of rustic chic, with a colour scheme of white and sage green & accents of gold. The whole day is just divine and captured perfectly by Simon Dewey Photography.

An absolute whirlwind that I’ll remember forever! Everything I imagined and more

Ella and Adam were married on 6th July 2022 at Riverlands (East Yorkshire Barns). ‘The venue was gorgeous and had the exact countryside and relaxed atmosphere we wanted. We saw it pre lots of renovation and saw such potential in it as a venue. We had 60 guests and it took 4 yeras on and off to plan.’

How they met
We went to school together and we were friends for years before getting together. We’ve been together now for 8 and a half years.

The proposal
Ella and I had a meal at our favourite restaurant in York, followed by some drinks and back to her favourite hotel. I made Ella close her eyes on the way into the room, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me.

How did you allocate your budget?
We had our priorities – like the venue – and worked around this to make it fit within our budget.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
My dress was definitely an (unintentional) splurge but I completely fell in love with one double our initial budget… oops.
We saved by choosing to get married on a Wednesday which helped reduce costs.

How did you choose your photographer?
Simon had photographed a family friends wedding 8 years ago and I loved a photo he took of me. I then recommended him to my best friend for her wedding in 2018. Yet again he did a phenomenal job so it was a no brainer!

The dress
My dress was from White April, bought from Chloe Jane Bridal. My hairband was Aurora, also bought from Chloe Jane Bridal. My shoes were just ASOS!

The suit and bridesmaids
Suits were from Moss Bros. Bridesmaids dresses were from ASOS, all different styles in the same colour!

Theme or colour scheme
White, sage green with hints of gold

Flowers
A lot of gypsophila and eucalyptus – greens and whites!

Decoration
We sourced a lot from IKEA – lots of pillar candles, tea lights and fairy lights in jars. Our main barn was decorated by Born Boho. We had a stunning halo hanging from the ceiling and they also supplied all the gorgeous chair and table decorations.

Food
We had a pizza van from Pompiere Pizza as well as ice cream with personalised wafers from A Tad Delicious.
The evening food was from Shoot the Bull- lots of tasty street food.

Entertainment
We had DJ Mark Green.

Who supplied the stationery?
We did it all ourselves!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We had a minimoon in the Cotswolds which was just beautiful. We are currently planning our honeymoon for September 2023 – TBC!

Personal touches
We didn’t DIY anything but we personally decorated ceremony barn and the surrounding areas where people congregated.

Special moments
Adam – Just after we were officially married we stopped half way down the aisle for another kiss.
Ella – The speeches. They were so beautiful and heartfelt. They meant the world to us.

Advice for other couples
Ella – I ALWAYS say this but stop and take it all in. Especially when you’re in your ceremony, you totally forget to take a mental picture of it all.
Adam – Try and spend as much time together as possible.

Biggest surprise
Adam – The speeches. They were so funny and equally as emotional
Ella – The fact that I didn’t cry! I managed to hold it together all day
