Happy Friday everyone! I can’t believe it’s Friday already and Week 1 of the summer holidays is done! I’ve now just about recovered from my trip to Disney and am currently planning my next trip back there, it was a truly magical few days! But I am now looking forward to the weekend. I am taking Dexter to the theatre on Saturday to watch School of Rock and on Sunday we are off to York Maze for a day out……fun times all round! What about you? Anything wedding related?? Today I am taking you to Poole for this super chilled micro wedding, full of fun and laughter and a whole lot of love. Georgie and Sam wanted a relaxed day with just a handful of close friends and relatives, no fuss just smiles and great company. Such a lovely day, big thanks to Joan Jellett for the fabulous photos.
Georgie and Sam were married on 10th June 2022, ‘We held our ceremony at Poole Registry Office – The Guildhall with a lovely registrar named Sue. We then went on to The Pig On The Beach in Studland for our reception (with a stop off at Shell Bay Beach to raise a glass on route). Poole/ Studland are very special places for us both. Sam and all of his family are from Poole. I grew up visiting Shell Bay/ Studland on weekends and went to Bournemouth University so have also known the area for most of my life. There were 13 of us in total for the duration of the day (plus Joan, our lovely photographer). We had always planned to do a smaller, more intimate wedding with our family’s before our big wedding (2 weeks later at Tunnels Beaches in Devon). This day was a lot more relaxed and had taken a couple of weeks to pull together with a few surprises thrown in too!’
How they met
We met over 10 years ago whilst working for Red Bull at university. We’ve been together ever since!
The proposal
We had hiked to Old Harry Rocks for sun rise and Sam surprised me by proposing just as the sun came up. It was beautiful.
How did you choose your photographer?
I had been looking for a photographer in Dorset but didn’t know anyone/ hadn’t come across an account that we had personally felt excited about. I ended up asking Sam’s sister, Maria, if she knew of anyone and she told me that she followed Joan on Instagram. It was just 10 days before the wedding when I DM’d Joan. Fortunately, by some small miracle she was available and she joined us. She did such a phenomenal job that we asked her to come back and shoot our “big wedding’ at Tunnels Beaches 2 weeks later!
The dress
Dress – Reformation, Veil – Grace Loves Lace, Shoes – All Saints
The suit
Blazer, Shoes & Bow Tie – Gucci, White Shirt – Karl Lagerfeld, Black Skinny Jeans – Top Man.
Theme or colour scheme
We just wanted to be ourselves, there wasn’t a theme or colour scheme.
Flowers
Sam’s twin brother’s girlfriend, Laura, surprised me with the most beautiful flower bouquet on the day. Laura works at a florist and is very talented, they were perfect.
Decoration
As the venues were so beautiful, we didn’t need to provide many decorations. We didn’t have any at Poole Registry Office. I had some name places made for the table in the form of personalised shells (purchased from Etsy) and flowers from my local florist in London but the venues didn’t need anything else.
Food
We ordered from the 25mile menu that The Pig provide, all of their food is really good.
Wedding cake
We chose from a selection of cakes that The Pig provide. As it was also my dads birthday, we had 2 cakes, carrot cake and red velvet.
Entertainment
My dad surprised us on the day and rented 2 VW Camper Vans to transport us all from Poole Quay across to Studland. It was the perfect way to travel in style!
Who supplied the stationery?
Invitations were distributed using a boho themed template, digital download was from Etsy.
Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We are saving this for later in the year, but really hoping that we make it to Hawaii!
Personal touches
There were lots of lovely and very thoughtful things which our family did for us on the day which made it so special. We booked a 2 night stay at The Pig following our wedding dinner which was a real treat for ourselves!
Special moments
We had a lovely celebrant named Sue who made sure the ceremony ran smoothly. All of the Poole Guildhall staff were so friendly and helpful which immediately put us at ease.
Having our friends and family there by our side. Travelling in style (the VW campers were awesome, these were hired from a company in Wareham). Stopping off at the beach after the ceremony for a glass of champagne on the beach. Having the best afternoon at The Pig.
Most importantly, having our lovely photographer Joan capture all of the amazing photos! I can’t recommend her enough, after all the photos are the special memories that we will hold onto forever.
Advice for other couples
Just make sure your wedding day is all about you. There are thousands of Pinterest pictures and Instagram accounts that you can get completely lost in – just make sure that your day reflects you, your personality, your interests, the things you like and you can’t go Wrong.

I’m Joan, a bubbly French-born, Bournemouth-based, Wedding Photographer. . I recently asked my Instagram followers to pick one word to describe me…“Passionate, Creative, Friendly, Funny, Genuine, Passionate, Hilarious, Fun, Infectiously Positive” I’m blushing! But I believe the most important thing you need to know about me is that even after 10 years of shooting weddings, I still thrive on making and seeing people happy on their special day and I believe this is why I became a wedding photographer! Love, displays of emotions and happiness truly is what drives me.
Great blog. Also, love the colour palette of the edit! Very refreshing.
Thank you for featuring!! Joan x
