Brittany and Taylor’s Flower Filled Outdoor Utah Wedding by Kayla Bertagnolli Photography

It’s so good to see so many beautiful weddings land in my inbox. After a year or more of weddings not happening because of the pandemic, it seems they are back in full force. Today’s wedding is another beauty that happened last summer in Utah. Brittany and Taylor our lovely couple wanted as many of their nearest and dearest but in an intimate setting that felt cosy and relaxed. This gorgeous outdoor ceremony provides just that with some beautiful blooms that add a southern feel to the whole day. Burnt rusts, oranges, yellows and greens all look amazing against this wedding’s backdrop, all topped off with one big party! Big thanks to Kayla Bertagnolli Photography  for the lovely images.

Our ceremony was intimate and filled with love as we were surrounded by all of our family and closest friends. The reception was an energetic, vibrant, fun, yet easy going dance party just like we wanted!

Brittany and Taylor were married on 30th July 2021 at Millcreek Inn in salt lake city, Utah. ‘We decided to get married at Millcreek Inn for its intimate feel and the beautiful surroundings. We loved that it was easy to get to and find but because of the landscape around it, it still felt secluded and intimate. We had 150ish guests and it took about a year and a half to plan.’

How they met
Taylor and I met on Tinder in June of 2017. I had moved home for the summer and neither of us had any intention of getting in a relationship. Little did we know we would be married almost 5 years later!

The proposal
A couple of weeks before we got engaged Taylor’s brother that works at Hogle zoo told us he “won and elephant encounter” and asked if we wanted the tickets instead because elephants are my favorite animal. I was so excited for 2 weeks and told everyone I knew that I got to meet the elephants at the zoo. The day finally came and I was so excited to meet the elephants and have them paint a picture for us! We got to the zoo and Taylor’s brother took us for a quick tour, we ate some lunch and then it was time! The elephant keeper had the canvas set up and Chrissy the elephant started her painting. After all the paint was used the zookeeper turned the canvas to us and said “how does this look?!” Except the canvas wasn’t there but a poster that said “Brittany will you marry me?!” was.  I was so shocked that I didn’t even register what happened. I though Tay bent down to tie his shoe but really he was down on his knee asking me to be his forever. Through tears and laughter I said “of course!! Put the ring on me!!” Taylor then turned me around and all of our closest family members were there watching the whole thing happen!

How did you allocate your budget?
When choosing how to split up the wedding budget we decided to start by choosing areas that were the most important to us. For us, the food, flowers, and photographer were the most important parts of the wedding day to us.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on flowers and the photographer! These were two of the things we looked forward to the most when planning our wedding.

How did you choose your photographer?
Kayla is a family friend and after she took family photos for my family, Taylor and I knew she was going to be the perfect fit for our wedding.

The dress
My dress was by Daughters of Simone and my shoes were from Lulus.com

The suit and bridesmaids
Taylors suit was from Express. The bridesmaids dresses were from lulus.com

Theme or colour scheme
We did not have a theme but our color scheme was rust oranges, cream, gold, and green. (all of the colors found in Southern Utah)

Flowers
I don’t actually know the names of the types of flowers we had but there was a mix of live and dried flowers, grasses and seed pods.

Decoration
We kept the decorations really minimal. Other than the center pieces and alter piece we did not have any other decorations

Food
For appetizers, we had caprese skewers, smoked salmon on cucumbers, and meatballs. Our dinner was a baked chicken and beef medallions with roasted vegetables and potatoes.

Wedding cake
We had 3 different cakes to choose from. Our cake was a rosemary and vanilla olive oil cake with cream cheese butter cream frosting. The other two were a lemon olive oil cake with vanilla bean butter cream and a pistachio sponge cake with raspberry compote and vanilla bean butter cream.

Entertainment
We had a DJ for entertainment.

Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We have not gone on a honeymoon yet but we did a mini staycation to finish our wedding weekend in Park City, UT.

Personal touches
In my bouquet I had my sorority initiation pin and I wore my grandma’s wedding ring on my right hand as a way to have her with me.

Special moments
Our entire wedding was the highlight of the day! It was the perfect day surrounded by our family and friends. One of the best moments was the dance party after the ceremony and dinner. It was everything we had wanted our wedding to be.

Advice for other couples
Your wedding is entirely about what you and your significant other. Plan your wedding for you and no one else.

Biggest surprise
The biggest surprise of the day was just how much fun everyone had. Our biggest fear was having a wedding that people left early from or were super bored at.
