Olivia and Luke’s Pig Themed Family Farm Wedding in Suffolk by Joseph Kinerman

Today’s wedding sees us head back to last month to celebrate the gorgeous celebration of Olivia and Luke. It’s so good to see weddings from this summer eventually land on the blog. It’s been a long old 18 months with hardly any weddings happening, let alone big ones with 120 guests like this one. Hopefully I will have lots more to share with you over he upcoming months! Olivia and Luke were lucky enough to get married on Olivia’s grandparents farm, which just so happens to be a pig farm, hence the wedding theme! The whole day looks lovely, the flowers are exquisite, along with the table decorations in pale pink and grey. Considering they postponed their wedding twice, third time is a charm! And what a magical day it is, captured beautifully by Joseph Kinerman.

Worth the wait!! Everything was perfect but it look a lot of organisation to get it that way!

Olivia and Luke were married on Friday 6th August 2021 with the ceremony and reception All Saints Church & Hopton Suffolk. This was Olivia’s family farm, where Olivia grew up, her grandparents got married in same church. We had 120 guests, we got engaged in October 2018, postponed June 2020 to June 2021, and then moved to August.

How they met
We met working for MPs in the House of Commons. Since 2013.

The proposal
We were on holiday in Canada, went for early morning stroll at Cox Bay on Vancouver Island. Only us and some surfers around.

How did you allocate your budget?
We were lucky our parents helped contribute lots, it was harder to keep an eye on budgets after a couple of postponements!

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on the band and the flowers. Both great decisions as really wanted to marquee to make a statement and flowers did. The band were also amazing – including the roving saxophonist! We didn’t bother with favours

How did you choose your photographer?
We were recommended Joe by another photographer but chose him because we loved his style of shooting. We didn’t want lots of posey photographers and his website photos really captured the spirit of the events.

The dress
And your accessories and shoes? Dress was from House of Snow, Bury St Edmunds. An absolutely amazing dress shop – the nicest people and great fittings etc.

The suit and bridesmaids
Suit from Trotter and Dean in Bury St Edmunds, Ties from Swagger and Swoon. Bridesmaid dresses from asos.

Theme or colour scheme?
The farm is a pig farm, so our invites had a pig illustrated by a family friend and our table names were all named after different pig breeds (with accompanying photos drawn by Kate Mawdsley). Colours were pale pink, grey, silvery green/blues.

Flowers
Wanted to make the marquee look full so we had greenery trailed on ceiling of marquees. I also wanted the table displays to not restrict views across table so had wreaths on each table, made up mainly of greenery. Flowers in church and in bouquets were all white (white roses in the bouquets) and lots of grey, greeny blue foliage.

Decoration
Flowers, greenery and foliage main decoration.

Food
Trio of Scott’s Field pork. Braised belly, confit cheek, crisp leg stuffing & crackling, Celeriac puree, dauphinoise potatoes, glazed carrots, hot green beans wrapped in courgette with a garlic & parsley butter, sliced apple with an apple & roast pig sauce.
Table picnic mini desserts – apple pie, chocolate mousse, lemon meringue pie and seasonal berries.

Wedding cake
Four tiers. Pink buttercream, with white flowers. Victoria sponge x 2 , lemon and elderflower and banoffee.

Entertainment
Sounds with us. 6 piece band, then DJ and singer during drinks reception.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Somerset. The Pig nr Bath.
