Ask The Experts: Incredible Luxury Adventure Honeymoons

Honeymoons have been a thing of dreams over the past year or so. What with weddings being off limits, Honeymoons have been something that couples have had to put on hold until travel limitations are eased. Now with an end in sight and the world opening up more, we can start to think about Honeymoons and the options there are. Some couples will be looking for a relaxing beach resort for their post wedding celebrations. However, having been stuck indoors for months on end, many of you may be looking for something a bit more exciting. So today I have invited our resident Honeymoon expert onto the blog to give us some first class advice on luxury adventure holidays.

Incredible Luxury Adventure Honeymoons

Just the right blend of romance and adventure creates an unforgettable trip of a lifetime. Lounging all day in your lavish suite sounds tempting, but it could get unexciting rather quickly.  While honeymoons are made for relaxation, they are also a time to create lasting memories. And nothing strengthens your bond as a newly married couple like discovering new things and facing your fears together.

The good thing is, you don’t have to give up luxury to enjoy an authentically thrilling getaway.  Putting together all your favorite things into one holiday can be overwhelming but possible.  The key is to find a destination that caters to your wants, style and needs as a couple. We have rounded up five romantic, luxurious, and exciting honeymoon adventures for you.

Hike Around Hawaii

Whoever said hiking isn’t romantic has probably never experienced the rush of joy at finding a secluded beach, the sight of unexpected wildlife, or the triumph that hikers feel when they reach their destination.  Hiking promotes physical contact and communication while reducing distractions and making your time together more memorable. Whether you are adventurous hikers or laid-back and chilled, there’s a trail waiting for you to explore in Hawaii.

Arguably the most popular hike in Hawaii, the Kalalau Trail presents majestic views of the Na Pall Coast and serves as the only access by land to the remote Kalalau beach. Those who love Hawaiian folklore can head to Ka’ena Point, where souls go to cross into the afterlife.  For something challenging, climb up Diamond Head, a 450-acre mass of volcanic rock, or ascend the 1000 steps leading up to the Koko Head Crater.  Trust us, the panorama from the summit is otherworldly beautiful. Venture the Manoa Falls Trail and be rewarded with an utterly surreal view of a 150 feet tall waterfall and fascinating flora and fauna.

But what are honeymoons without watching the sun sink on the horizon?  You can find some of the most mesmerizing sunsets at the peak of Mauna Kea, Hawaii’s highest mountain. Or, if climbing is too much for you, there’s always the good old sundown stroll on the beach.

Charter a Gulet in Croatia

Quintessentially Mediterranean, Croatia is overflowing with romance.  Not surprisingly, the country is fast becoming a favorite among newlyweds looking for relaxation and adventure. Perhaps, its most famous attraction is its coastline.  Littered with hundreds of islands and fringed by dazzling white beaches surrounded by sapphire blue waters, the Croatian coast is beyond extraordinary.  You can soak up the sun all day at a pebbly beach. Or get your fill of adrenaline rush with parasailing, snorkeling, windsurfing, and diving.

However, if you want romance and adventure at its finest, book a Croatia gulet cruise and explore the lovely Adriatic Sea. Imagine luxuriating on the sundeck of an exclusive yacht, sipping a glass of chilled champagne while watching the spectacular Croatian coast unfold before your eyes.

Visit the heart-shaped isle of Galesnjak or the Island of Love.   Savor the wild beauty of the Kornati archipelago, stop by Split to explore its historic landmarks, go wine tasting in Hvar, and walk around the old stone walls of Dubrovnik.  Don’t miss a cruise to Zadar, known for its cozy cafes and breathtaking sunsets.

Jungle Trek through Rwanda

Situated on the western portion of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, Rwanda boasts of lush landscapes, volcanic mountains, dense jungles, and rare wildlife.  The country’s rugged terrain earned it the nickname Land of a Thousand Hills.  In the heart of the wilderness, you will find chimpanzees, golden monkeys, and mountain gorillas.  Head to the Volcanoes National Park to observe these incredible primates in their natural habitat.

If you’re looking for an easy and relatively flat trail, venture the Karamba trail in the rainforests of Nyungwe National Park.  Take adventure to the next level and brave the park’s 250-foot-long canopy walk suspended 130 feet above the ground. Make the best out of your romantic getaway by staying at a luxurious villa overlooking the edge of the jungle.

For a more diverse eco-system, go to Akagera National Park and watch its free-roaming lions, rhinos, and rich birdlife.  Cruise the scenic Lake Kivu and drop by the plantation island of Nyamirundi Island to sample the country’s award-winning coffee.

Take a Winter Road Trip Across the US

The United States has some of the best road trip destinations for newlyweds who want to spend quality time together.  But why travel in winter?  Because it means fewer tourists and less traffic.  Winter also means cruising through a magical wonderland of silvery-white snow.  If that isn’t romantic, we don’t know what is.

However, always remember that driving in winter needs extra precaution, especially when navigating through unfamiliar roads.  Apart from regularly checking that your vehicle is in top condition, stock up on winter essentials, including batteries, gloves, boots, blankets, and a first aid kit. Then, plan your route carefully. Just because your road tripping doesn’t mean you can’t do it in style. If you are after a luxury US travel experience, then there are plenty of car upgrades and sensational hotels and cabins to stay at along the route.

If you want to see endless swathes of snow-clad fields, drive on the Seward Highway from Anchorage to Portage.  Follow the 46-mile route from Groveland to Yosemite Valley and find the granite monoliths covered in snow and waterfalls turned into sparkly sheaths of ice.  Explore Skyline Drive, which runs along the peak of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park.  Cruise along the perimeter of the breathtaking Lake Tahoe, enjoy the coastal towns and local shops in Northern Door County in Wisconsin, marvel at the stunningly scenic views of the Glacier Country in Montana.

Mountain Bike through Tibet

Cycling through the majestic roof of the world is a life-changing experience. What better way to mark the start of your journey as a newly married couple than by conquering some of the world’s most challenging bike courses?  Undoubtedly, the most popular cycling route is from Lhasa to Kathmandu.  Along the way, you can gape at incredibly spectacular sights, discover secret forts and palaces and bask in the mystery of the Himalayan Mountains.

In Lhasa, be sure to explore the imposing Potala Palace, stroll around the 7th-century Jokhang Temple, and buy souvenirs at the colorful Barkhor Street. Take a side-trip to the otherworldly Yamdrok Lake, known for its mystical blue waters that change hue depending on the sun’s position.  Hike to the Mount Everest base camp and stay in a luxury lodge for a superbly romantic and adventurous honeymoon.
