Today I am taking you to my favourite place for weddings, California. There is something about the California sunshine that works so well for weddings, and the canyons of Aptos in California that feature today are just beautiful. Cassie and Rick were married on 7th October 2017 at Cassie’s parents home. They were lucky enough to hold both the ceremony and reception in their backyard, making it super personal and intimate. The whole day looks amazing, the deep tones and colours, the gorgeous bridesmaids dresses, the bouquets, the flowers, the rustic detailing, all go to make this wedding a real California dream. Big thanks to Hannah Kate Photography for the gorgeous images.
Cassie and Rick designed a modern and intimate affair with deep colors, natural accents and romantic florals. The ceremony and reception were both held at Cassie’s parent’s home in the deep canyons of Aptos, California. The whole day included sentimental and personal touches– like their First Look taking place in a memorial garden for Cassie’s late sister, a customized ceremony by their dear friend tailored to the couple, a vegan-friendly menu, kombucha on tap (one of Rick’s only must-have’s for the wedding and his absolute favorite!), and small hummingbird trinkets incorporated into the wedding day decor which has been taken on as Cassie’s family’s emblem.
While they did have a more Indian-traditional wedding prior to October 7th, 2017, they decided to shake things up and forego tradition when it came to their americanized wedding. They opted both for a first look as well as a cocktail hour BEFORE the ceremony, so that they could spend it mingling with their guests and enjoying their company rather than tucked away or preoccupied with formal photos. The cocktail hour was full of yummy appetizers, delicious refreshments and lots of great conversation between all their loved ones.
Plenty of guests danced the night away under the stars, but plenty others utilized the poolside cigar bar and bonfires, the multiple lounges around the property as well as the photo booth and lawn games.
