Today I have a flower filled bonanza for you to help you get through this wet and very un-summery Tuesday. A gorgeous East Yorkshire wedding, that is classic, modern and filled with a Boho twist all in one beautiful wedding package. Unity and Chris fell in love with their venue straight away and then proceeded to plan a family friendly wedding filled with the most gorgeous flowers and stunning copper accents. With a few DIY decorations thrown in for good measure this wedding is filled with the couples adorable children, as well as so many smiles and a whole heap of style. Big thanks to Cluskey Smith Photography for the fab images.
Unity and Chris were married on the 28th May 2017 at Dunedin Country House, Patrington, East Yorkshire. ‘We fell in love with the venue, we were looking for a something small and intimate, with gorgeous interior, were we could hirer exclusively. And Dunedin was perfect. We had 70 guests and the wedding took 10 months to plan.’
How they met
We met through a friend over a casual drink at the pub. Our first proper meeting was at Hull Fair and it went from there after that we have been together 8 years.
The Proposal
We had planned a child free night away in Leeds so Unity thought… on the day Chris went off to ‘work’, he was checking in at a boutique hotel in Leeds, decorating the room with fairy lights and rose petals. When we arrived in Leeds Unity just bought it all, and didn’t for one minute expect what was coming next, we checked in to the room and as we walked in Unity was blown away by what she saw, as Chris got down on one knee to present the most beautiful ring. The moment was perfect for us.
How did you allocate your budget?
We didn’t have a budget as such, we spent money on everything we wanted. We just didn’t go crazy.
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on flowers as that’s all we wanted décor wise. We didn’t save money on anything as we wanted the perfect day and chose what we wanted.
Why did you choose your photographer?
Cluskey Smith Photography, we were recommended to these guys, after meeting them we loved them. We loved there style, and they were just super cool people.
The Dress
The dress was by Essence of Australia and shoes from Kurt Geiger. Hair Vine was made by Amore Headwear
The Suit and Bridesmaids
For the suits we shopped from a few different places we wanted something different, we found Jackets and Waistcoat from River Island, Bows Tie – Broni&bo, the rest from ASOS. The Bridesmaids wore a Coast two piece Skirt and Top.
Theme or Colour Scheme
Flowers – I worked on a colour palette of copper, peach, rose gold tones.
Flowers
I requested a huge messy bouquet, with lots of green and fewer flowers. I had lots of Eucalyptus, Wax Flower, Avalanche roses, Spray roses lisianthus.
Decoration
We only used foliage and flowers to decorate, with copper accessories.
Food
Starter: Ham hock terrine, Main: Beef in red wine parcels with seasonal vegetables, Dessert: chocolate pudding
Wedding Cake
An iced 3 tier sponge with chocolate, vanilla and lemon layers
Entertainment
We had a band called Farewell Fairground which were amazing.
Stationery
Great Britton Designs
Personal Touches
My Dad made us an Easel and an arch for the end of the aisle out of copper pipe which we had made into a floral back drop.
Special Moments or Highlights
The whole day was spectacular. We had a dance off on the night Stag v’s Hen which was totally fab, obviously the hens won, after a 3 tier pyramid of ladies.
