Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend and managed to stay warm in this particularly chilly weather we are having. It’s a busy week on the blog, we have lots going on behind the scenes at the moment so it’s heads down while we get on with our to do lists.
To start the week I have this lovely wedding that has been sent into me by Chris at Scuffins Photography. It’s a beautiful autumnal wedding from Gloucestershire, with deep tones and some lovely decoration and details, a wonderful venue and of course a very happy bride and groom.
Rachel and William were married on 2nd October 2015 at Elmore Court, Gloucestershire. ‘Elmore court is a perfect fusion of old and new – the historic house and the modern, beautifully and responsibly designed Gillyflower (function suite). The attention to detail was outstanding and the staff were thoughtful, professional and attentive. We had a total of 95 guests and it took Eighteen months to plan’
How they met
We’ve been together over eleven years. We met on a night out for a mutual friends birthday.
The Proposal
Will took me on a surprise trip to Zagreb, Croatia and got down on one knee in a beautiful park overlooking the city. We celebrated with pink champagne in a beautiful restaurant in the old city.
How did you allocate your budget
We spent our money in ways that would truly impact the day being careful not to overspend on frivolities.
Where did you splurge and where did you save
The main splurge was my shoes the price of which shocked my dad! We saved by doing finishing touches ourselves with the help of our family. I made the chair decorations and buttonholes. My fabulous family helped too. Will’s mum made huge quantities of marmalade for favours and my mum made the bridesmaids’ dresses and my lovely aunty Julia arranged all the flowers.
How did you choose your photographer
We spent a long time trawling the internet and looking into recommendations. However we were looking for somebody who would capture the day and the aesthetic as we would want to remember it. As soon as we saw Scuffins’ website/portfolio we knew they were the perfect fit.
The Dress
Dress – Ronald Joyce, Shoes – Christian Louboutin
The Suit and Bridesmaids
Suit – Ted Baker, Shoes – Bertie, Bridesmaids Dresses – Handmade (Fabric from Goldhawk Rd. Shepherds Bush)
Theme or Colour Scheme
If I had to label the theme something I would cal it country chic. I wanted a combination of relaxed country touches with an autumnal colour scheme and elegant simplicity.
Flowers
The flowers were Arum lilies for the bouquet and table decorations with gypsophila for the bridesmaids’ posies and handmade decorative rowan berries for the boys buttonholes.
Decoration
We tried to keep our decoration as simple as possible. We wanted the setting and the season to speak for themselves.
Food
Andrew Cole at Elmore devised a menu based on our desire for hearty autumnal food. Twice baked double Gloucester and chive soufflé with apple salad grape chutney and caramelised walnuts. Individual pheasant and red wine casseroles with parsnip mash, roasted seasonal root vegetables and parsnip crisps. Lemon posset with raspberry compote and home made ginger biscuits.
Wedding Cake
Three tiers of Chocolate ganache cake decorated with caramelised oranges and ribbon.
Entertainment
We are very fussy about our music so the playlist was supplied by ourselves through Elmore’s awesome sound and light system.
The Stationery
I am a graphic designed and did all the stationery myself
Special Moments
I loved all of it! Seeing Will for the first time having missed him very much the night before the wedding. My dad crying when he first saw me in my dress.
Advice to other couples
Keep it simple where you can. Spend your money where it matters and don’t be afraid to ask your friends and family for help. Most of all on the day don’t stress just enjoy every second.
Biggest surprise
The beautiful weather!
