Jayne and William’s Bare Footed Welsh Wedding By Tom Simone Weddings

Happy Friday everyone. Have you got that Friday feeling? I certainly hope so! How many of you have weddings to go to this weekend? Wedding season has certainly kicked in. It’s great listening to my supplier friends talk about this summers weddings and what to expect from their couples. If you are getting married this year I hope the planning is going well. Talking of summer weddings, I have a lovely August wedding for you today from Tom Simone Weddings. A relaxed outdoor ceremony, with a bare footed bride, that overlooks a wonderful view of Snowdon.

‘A magical day in very special surroundings filled with the people we love.’

Jayne and William were married on 16th August at Trigonos, Nantlle, Wales. ‘It is a special place for us. We wanted a very low key, peaceful place with a connection to the outdoors. You have a wonderful view of Snowdon across the valley. We had 50 guests in total and it took 1 year to plan.

How they met
We met in Oxford in 2004 whilst working for a company that provides English teaching and tours for international students. We are from opposite sides of the UK (William, North Wales, Jayne, Kent) so it was an unlikely meeting! We had been together 9 years when we married.

The Proposal
Whilst on a walk in a forest – a surprise for us both!

How did you allocate your budget
Very easy – how much can we afford to save each month? How many months? Times answers together.

How did you choose your photographer
Tom is very laid back, professional and not at all ‘in your face’. When we offered him a cuppa at our flat and he asked for a ‘normality’ (normal tea) we knew he was the one! Most people thought he was one of our mates as he fitted in so well at the wedding. His pictures were absolutely stunning – we couldn’t have been happier.

The Dress
A lovely lady in Horsham where my mum lives made my dress. I didn’t wear any shoes – I love not wearing shoes.

The Suit and Bridesmaids
William’s suit was by Reiss and the Bridesmaids’ dresses from Phase Eight. The flower girls’ dress was from Monsoon.

18 Welsh Wedding By Tom Simone Weddings Flowers
Very simple ones. The bride’s bouquet, headdress and the bridesmaids’ flowers were all from a gypsophila bush. Our table flowers (sweet peas) were kindly arranged by Trigonos’ gardener using flowers from their beautiful grounds

Decoration
Just some simple home made bunting and lots of tea lights in glass jars. Who needs decorations with that view

Food
A beautiful mainly vegetarian feast prepared by Trigonos staff.

Wedding Cake
Made by the very talented mother of the bride

Entertainment
We had the wonderful ‘The Street Band’ from Oswestry made up of some old friends of the family who also played at William’s parents’ wedding many moons ago! Our friend George then took to the decks and we ended the night with singing and playing guitars around the campfire.

Buy or DIY your Stationery
We made everything ourselves. We made postcards for ‘save the date’ and the invitations were handmade

Personal or Handmade Touches
Our ceremony was outside in a circle (everyone could see and everyone was equal) We ended the ceremony with throwing a ball of twine across the circle until everyone was connected. We then invited everyone to cut a piece of twine and tie it round his or her wrist as a memory of the day. I’m still wearing mine nearly 2 years later.

Special Moments
How relaxed and happy we felt. Having the ceremony outside was just wonderful. As was dancing under the stars. We really felt that the day reflected who we are and it was beautiful to have all the people we love in one place in such stunning surroundings. Nothing else mattered.

Advice to other couples
Be true to yourself. Remember a wedding day isn’t about how much money you spend or family politics, it’s about celebrating the love you have for each other. Keep to that true and you cannot go wrong

Biggest surprise
That it was sunny in Wales. A miracle!
