This guide will take you through everything you need to know about a honeymoon in Ireland, from the best time to visit and the top places to go, to the most romantic experiences. Whether it’s your first visit or you’re returning for more, Ireland is the perfect place to start your new journey together.

Best Time to Visit

Ireland is beautiful year-round, but the best time for a honeymoon depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for. The most popular months to visit are from May to September, when the days are longer, flowers are in bloom, and festivals bring towns to life. These months are ideal for road trips, hiking, and exploring Ireland’s scenic coastlines and gardens. However, they also bring more crowds and higher prices.

If you’re after a quieter, more intimate honeymoon, April or October can be perfect. You can expect mild weather, fewer tourists, and golden-hued landscapes. Winter honeymoons (November through February) are cold and wet, but there’s a certain charm to bundling up and enjoying Ireland’s cosy side: think fireside pubs, castle stays, and romantic dinners by candlelight. Whenever you visit, it’s best to pack for all weather conditions – rain, sun, and everything in between – since Irish weather can be wonderfully unpredictable.

Nora and Tim’s ‘Modern Fall’ Orange and Peach New York Wedding by Last Light Studio

Todays wedding features one of my favourite flowers, Dahlia’s. Dahlia’s, peonies and proteas are probably in my top 3 favourite flowers, so I was delighted when this gorgeous wedding landed in my in box. Nora and Tim were married on 28th September 2024 in Catskill, New York. They held a modern wedding with the most stunning colour scheme of orange and peach to reflect the fall month of September. I just adore their decoration, simple, modern, clean and full of peach goodness. As for their chuppah what a delightful addition to their Jewish celebrations. A gorgeous day from start to finish all captured perfectly by Last Light Studio.

Grooms Style: Wedding Looks That Work in Every Season

Most people plan their wedding look around the venue or the theme. But here’s a more important question: what season is it, and what is it really asking from your outfit? Planning for wedding and formal events means balancing formality with practicality—and the weather has more say in that than most give it credit for.

We tend to imagine wedding style as fixed: black suits in winter, linen shirts in summer. But those expectations are narrow. A well-dressed guest or groom today doesn’t just look appropriate; they look relevant. Seasonally appropriate style isn’t about following trends or traditions—it’s about looking like you belong in that moment. Your clothing should feel as natural as the season itself.

Let’s take a look at how to shift the way we approach seasonal style, and what you need to know to build looks that work year-round.

The One-Season-Mindset Trap

When it comes to wedding and formal events, one of the biggest styling mistakes is thinking one look fits all. Maybe you’ve found a great tux or suit that worked for a winter wedding and figure it will carry you through spring and summer too. But context matters.

Think about it: Would you wear a wool suit to an August beach ceremony? Or a linen blend to a mountain lodge in December? Too often, we default to what we own or what we think is expected. And while tradition has its place, being underdressed (or overdressed) due to seasonal oversight can steal attention for the wrong reasons.

Online retailers and rental experts like Stitch & Tie and The Modern Groom have popularized season-aware dressing. Their approach has one thing in common: flexibility. It’s no longer just about the style of suit but how breathable, layered, and adaptable it is. Rental experts like Generation tux offer the best tuxedos and suits and these aren’t just designed for elegance—they’re engineered for comfort, versatility, and season-appropriate polish. Whether you’re dealing with the crisp cool of fall or the high humidity of summer, what you wear should help you move with ease and confidence.

This shift isn’t just about the materials. It’s also about the vibe. Warm months open the door for lighter shades, bolder patterns, and relaxed silhouettes. Cooler seasons invite depth, texture, and darker tones. Your suit should speak the language of the season, not just fit the dress code.
