I have a lovely wedding fro you today courtesy of the fabulous Craig and Kate. The wedding takes place in North Wales and is full of tweed and lace which is the theme of the wedding. When the bride is a florist you know that the flowers are going to be beautiful and indeed they are, totally natural and full of charm. I am loving the grooms outfit, as well as the cheeky groomsmen running after the sheep!
Carys and Stephen who were married on 18th May at Seiont manor hotel, Caernarfon, North Wales.’It Was the only Venue that we went to look at and we just fell in love with it, it was exactly what we wanted just really understated but with such natural beauty. We had 70 guests to the day and 120 to the evening. It took 18 months to plan but it all went very quickly with no stress!’
How they met
We met thought a mutual friend when we all went to stone Henge for the summer solstice in 2009.
The proposal
After a few months of coming up with ideas of how to pop the question, Ste went to collect the ring after getting very excited he suggested taking the dog for a walk it was a beautiful day and we went down the beach that has a great view over to wales and just popped the question there it was perfect but not one of his original ideas!
Why did you choose your photographer?
Ste found the photographers on a web design blog and just fell in love with there stuff, we met up with them in London and they were just so amazing we booked them the next day.
The dress
My dress was by Annasul Y, I had my jewellery made custom made in a little jewellers on the Wirral Called Fraser Bell, My shoes where by Irregular Choice.
The suit
All The lads trousers and waist coats where from top man and we got Ste’s suit jacket from an amazing suit shop just outside of Chester called Grooms.
Theme or colour scheme
I wanted it to all be very natural and being a florist I New exactly what flowers that I wanted from the off set so we really planed our colours around that but we both new that we wanted small hints of lace and tweed in there too, we also pulled in the slate colour to complement the building and surrounding areas.
Decoration
We Hand wrote all of the signage used in the wedding and we also had little jam jars filled with flowers dotted around the place and used as name places for the meal that match all the flowers in the wedding, we also had lots of vases dotted around just to carry the theme though.
Personal/ DIY touches
• We Screen printed all the invites and printed material used on the day ourselves with the help of a Friend
• We made Lovely little confetti cones out of paper doilies and all the confetti was dried rose petals from our garden.
Food
For our starters we had Parmesan Crusted Asparagus, Soft Boiled Egg, Truffle Oil Vinaigrette Followed by Shoulder of Welsh lamb, Parmesan Polenta, Roasted vegetables, Mint Jus and for desert we has a very neat Raspberry & Vanilla ‘Mess’ then for an evening buffet we had a hog roast.
Entertainment
We Found an amazing band from Manchester called the gypsies of bohemia who where really unusual as the played gypsy swing covers of modern day pop songs. We also had a VW camper that was our photo booth.
Flowers
The flowers that we had where all very vintage looking and soft, there where allot of roses along with loose and natural things such as dill and astrantia that really softened the look of them to give them a much more natural look to go with the very relaxed theme.
Special moments
The Whole day was absolutely amazing, and it is so had to find any one thing that really stands out, but we think seeing all our friends and family looking so good and all having a great time is something that we will always have with us… Oh and becoming husband and Wife.
Advice
Don’t just settle for anything search for what you really want because it will pay off in making the day exactly what you want. Do a job a week to elevate the stress closer to the time and just enjoy the planning as well as the day, I loved planning the wedding and don’t know what all the fuss is about.
Biggest surprise
The Biggest surprise for Carys was coming back from having a walk with the photographers to find a VW Camper van parked outside the hotel which was to go on our honeymoon in and was also used in the evening as a photo booth, it was amazing and I was so surprised when I saw it.
