Happy Monday, after a fun filled few days of birthday celebrations I am now back...

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend. Not so much sun up here in Sheffield, but I have to say it did give me a chance to get on with some much needed catch up yesterday. It’s been too nice to do much else than enjoy the sun shine recently so yesterday I made the most of the cloud and caught up on some editing, admin and a bit of work. I am now all set for another busy week ahead of me, how about you?
Today I have an engagement shoot, something I don’t feature to often on the blog, but when they come in and are as exciting and well shot as this one, how could I say no.
E shoots, love shoots, pre wedding shoots, what ever you want to call them, are a great way to get used to your wedding photographer and feel more at ease in front of the camera. For the braver brides and grooms though they can be a real chance for you to have some fun and really go to town. This is is just what Samantha and Marc did with their wedding Photographer Neil Thomas Douglas. They had their shoot on 4th July at St. Peters Seminary, Cardross in Scotland and decided to throw and have paint thrown on them for their shoot. The results are fantastic and I’m sure you will agree that Neil has done a great job capturing what looks like a really fun day!
How they met
We met at work, in Topshop, 8 years ago…classic case of friends fall in love (after one of us left of course, professionalism and all!). So it’s been 7 and a half years now!
The proposal
I had been harping on at Marc for quite a long time about getting married (as any normal young female, madly in love would!)…It got to the stage that Marc felt he would never be able to surprise me.
The only day of the year Marc thought I wouldn’t be thinking about it, was his birthday (clever)!
I planned a surprise overnight stay in Oban…Marc was very anxious about knowing where we were heading (obviously so he could plan around it).
After a lovely walk through the forest, we headed down by the pier for dinner, and then sat down next to the water.
It was a chilly night; the moon was reflecting on the water, boats were bobbing around…
Marc began to tell me how he loved me, and he had reached a point in his life…
He produced a box from his bag (not a ring sized box, a much larger one – so I didn’t consider a proposal!). I was confused, but proceeded to open the mysterious box.
I dug into the box, and discovered a teapot (I LOVE a teapot!), it read: “Let’s grow old together and drink tea…” I got teary, and told Marc I loved it, as I put it back in the box. He stopped me, and told me to take it out and look at it properly! As I turned the teapot around it read: “…will you marry me?” Cue the waterworks!!
Tell me one the thing you love most about each other:
Sam on Marc: I love Marc’s spontaneity, and “live for the moment” take on life! And how he can make me laugh at any time!
Marc on Sam: Her selflessness and thoughtfulness. An admirable unconditional passion for family and friends
Date of wedding
27th April 2014 at House for an Art Lover, Glasgow
Do you have a theme or colour scheme
Anything goes! We’re bringing in the things we love most…
Marc; Cycling, coffee & whisky.
Sam; Dance, tea & Alice in wonderland craziness!
What part of the wedding are you looking forward to the most?
Sam: The revealing of ‘the dress’, of course! (And seeing the look on Marc’s face when I walk in the room).
Marc: Whisky (Saving a very nice bottle for the occasion)
