Boho Loves: Mythe Barn ‘Traditional, Modern and Stylish' set on Mythe Farm in the Heart of the Midlands

Today I I’d like to introduce you to a stunning farm wedding venue set in the heart of the Midlands countryside called Mythe Barn. Mythe Barn is a relatively new wedding venue but is already well-known and commanding much respect in the wedding industry. It offers couples the opportunity to hold both the ceremony and reception all in one place while offering them overnight accommodation on their gorgeous farm location.

Joseph and Joanna Garland are the owners of Mythe Barn and they have worked incredibly hard to make their venue as perfect as possible!
In order to find out more about them and their unique venue they have been kind enough to answer a few questions for me.

What made you start your business?
We’re in our thirties and having been to a lot of weddings in recent years we knew that we could make a great venue that ticked a lot of the most important boxes for many couples. We also had a number of parties in the barns before we decided to convert them and it always had a really great vibe. Between us, we have a background in events, marketing, rural property consultancy and of course agriculture so it’s been an exciting project! We already had a B&B and converting the barn into a wedding venue felt like the right thing to do; we thought that couples would like their closest friends and family to stay at the farm. We love our farm (Joe grew up here) and want to share it with other couples for their big day. Above all, Mythe Farm is a really special place…

When did you start the Business?
Construction of the barn began in August 2011 so it’s been quite a journey, but an amazing one!

Where are you based?
The barn is based up a long drive and is set at the heart of the farm surrounded by beautiful countryside. We’re right in the heart of the Midlands and close to the M6, M42, M1 and with trains to London and Nuneaton only a 10 minute drive away so couples from all around can find their dream wedding venue in Mythe Barn.

How would you describe your style?
The barn is traditional, modern and stylish. Having had our own wedding not so long ago, our dream was to build a wedding venue that has everything! We paid close attention to detail in all aspects of the barn’s construction – from the style and structure of the barn to the fabrics and furnishings of its interior. The barn is licensed for ceremonies for up to 150 guests in the Oak Barn. This stunning space has an oak frame reaching as far as 2 stories high and floor to ceiling windows which look out onto the countryside, making it a very special setting for this part of the day. Other areas of the wedding barn include the Cast Barn, which has a fully licensed bar and is a spacious room ideal for a drinks reception and the Grain Store, which can seat up to 150 guests for dining and has full-height windows allowing natural light to fill the room. We also offer overnight accommodation for the wedding couple and their guests in the Honeymoon Suite and Hayloft. Couples can also enjoy having their photos taken in the surrounding gardens and countryside. It’s perfect for couples wanting everything in one location!

What is your biggest achievement so far?
Seeing the barn reach completion of course! So much time and effort went into the build of our wedding barn – before and during the construction. It was amazing to see the barn take shape over the months, but when we finally saw it completely finished it was an emotional moment to say the least and it felt amazing! Looking at the barn reminds us how hard we worked to create this wonderful barn wedding venue and for that we are ever proud and feel a wonderful sense of achievement. Holding the first ever wedding at Mythe Barn was also a wonderful and memorable moment.

What makes you different to your competitors?
I guess you could say that we’ve built a wedding venue with the couple in mind. We know what it’s like to plan a wedding and understand that the process to finding that dream venue is not always an easy one. Sometimes choosing your venue can result in making sacrifices. We didn’t want couples to have to do this, and so we built a venue which allows couples to enjoy everything in one location. The wedding breakfast, evening reception, overnight accommodation for the couple and guests, the photographic opportunities… it’s all here! In addition, our Events Team, Galloping Gourmet, is on hand to help and support the wedding couple in the lead up and on the wedding day. Galloping Gourmet bring the best of modern British cuisine using top quality ingredients and working with local suppliers whenever possible. We want only the best for each and every wedding at the barn.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Working at Mythe Barn brings so many enjoyable moments. We love meeting couples – it’s so nice to hear about their wedding ideas and seeing the excitement in their eyes. Seeing the actual wedding in full swing is always an enjoyable moment too. It’s lovely to see everyone having such a wonderful time and it’s a nice feeling to know that we played a part in that.

Can you give me some information on your pricing structure?
Our venue hire charges from June onwards in 2012 start from £2,750. In addition, couples can choose from our Fine Food Packages which start from £53 + Vat in 2012 for a 3 course meal including drinks package. At Mythe Barn couples have exclusive use of the barn and gardens – it’s your venue for your day!
