‘Disco Balls and Vinyl’ 70’s Themed Wedding Inspiration

If I were to get married again, there would definitely be disco balls, lots and lots of disco balls! So when this 70s themed styled shoot landed in my in box, and I saw it was full of disco balls I just knew I had to share it with you as soon as possible. The shoot took place on 27th September 2023 at The Seventy Five in Hocking Hills, Ohio. Gabriella Sutherland Photography was the brain child behind this ‘Disco Balls and Vinyl’ shoot and worked with an incredible team to bring her vision to life. I love the use of the mini vinyl and the full size ones to create the table plan, place mats and all the cute touches like the cake. A  fun, cheeky play on the 70s theme, that would work well in many a wedding or celebration.

Gabriella the Photographer tells us more about the shoot

The 70’s style has always been a favourite of mine. I love how the muted colours match my editing style and the edgy vibe that the 70s era brings. The couple who modelled for me (Cole and Kiersten) had a natural, edgy 70’s vibe that fit perfectly for my vision. I knew when I was designing the shoot that I wanted to incorporate disco balls and vinyl’s, two things that are very popular in the 70s vibe weddings. We used two sized vinyl’s for the tablescape, a small size for the “favours” for guests and large sized vinyl’s for the “chargers” to add something a little different and inspirational for future couples who love this vibe. The sunglasses for the models were the perfect touch to the edgy vibe. The venue served as a great blank slate for my vision, especially the outside ceremony site where we added the triangle arch that had a dark colour to contrast well for the tones. The two large disco balls for a photo op (putting the disco balls in front of their face) was a personal request of mine as this was always something my artistic mind wanted to do. I loved it!
The lantern photos added a nice alternative touch to the vibe that I think made the gallery stand out. The lanterns came from amazon and are a great, cheap touch to upscale a wedding gallery in a simple way.
The pizza photos at the end of the night were impromptu and last minute. I did not plan to do these types of photos at the end of the night, but they ended up being a perfect touch to the vibe and gallery. They were simply about to start getting ready to head home (grabbing leftover pizza) when I asked if they could sit by the hanging vinyl’s and “share some pizza together”. I love the flash photography look of these photographs and the vintage vibe it brings.
