Happy Monday everyone and how are you all? Did you have a good weekend? Mine was lovely spent with both friends and family. Saturday we went to Matlock with my good friend Sarah and her family. Then Sunday back home for a Spanish feast cooked by my wonderful husband for our family back in Sheffield. I am now rested and ready for the week ahead, which is just as well as it’s going to be a busy one here on the blog! We are starting off with the adorable wedding of Fiona and Ben who were married in Halifax. They chose a modern industrial venue, which worked beautifully with their pastel colour palette, mixed with a Glastonbury theme. I do love an industrial venue, the exposed bricks and wooden tables work beautifully against the white walls and greenery. Fiona and Ben were married on 3rd August 2019 at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Birstall and Reception at The Arches, Dean Clough Mills in Halifax. ‘The Arches provide an industrial setting and a blank canvas that you can truly personalise to your tastes. We didn’t want anything cliché. We had 70 guests and we slowly planned it over 18 months.’

How they met
We met through friends at a BBQ and we have been together 8 years.

The proposal
Ben proposed in our favourite holiday destination – Praia da Luz, Algarve, Portugal where Fiona has been going with her family since she was a young girl. Since then Ben and Fiona have visited many times over the years. Ben walked Fiona up to the cliff tops at sunrise and got down on one knee – Fiona didn’t suspect a thing!

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
Band – music was really important to us so we splurged on a 7-piece band. We saved on minimal decoration on tables (lots of green ivy as apposed to flowers).

How did you choose your photographer?
We searched Instagram and wanted someone who was relaxed and would capture the fun and laughter of the day.

The dress
Dress – Rembo Styling. Crown – Tilly Thomas Lux and shoes – Michael Kors.

The suit and bridesmaids
Suits – Marc Darcy and bridesmaids – Asos.

Theme or colour scheme
Glastonbury theme with pastel colours and pastel flowers

Decoration
Lots of green ivy, candles etc

Food
Leek and potato soup. Chicken in a red wine sauce with dauphinoise potatoes and vegetables and trio of deserts – chocolate brownie, lemon tart and sticky toffee pudding.

Wedding cake
Naked elderflower and lemon cake.

Entertainment
Acoustic singer for the meal and 7-piece band Funkd it Up! Photobooth – Birdie Photobooth.

Advice for other couples
Take your time to plan you big day – we did it slowly over 18 months (very little stress).

Biggest surprise
My eldest sister surprised us with an acoustic singer for the meal – he began playing one of our favourite songs ‘Here Comes the Sun’ and Fiona immediately burst into tears!
