Selecting your engagement ring is a beautiful thing. It’s intimate. It’s thoughtful. And it’s rarely...
I don’t know about you, but it’s been a very odd week so far! One minute it’s 2013, the next it’s 2014! I feel like I’ve only just got back to the office and into the swing of work and it’s Friday already! So to finish off the week I have this gorgeous and very elegant wedding from Paul Marbrook. Catherine and Richard were married in the amazing Woolverstone Hall, which sets off this wedding beautifully. With super pretty pale pink, grey and cream touches this wedding is stylish and ever so chic!
Catherine and Richard were married on the 17th of August 2013 at Woolverstone Hall in Suffolk. ‘Rich’s parents had a little cottage nearby so he grew up around there and the view of the estuary is beautiful. We had 120 guests and the wedding took 8 months to plan’.
How they met
We have been together for 10 and a half years and met in Australia on our ‘gap yah’.
Christmas Eve at my parents house having just celebrated my best friend (and Maid of Honour) getting engaged!
How did you allocate your budget?
We wanted to spend the most money on good food and alcohol so that everyone had a good time!
Why did you choose your photographer?
Paul was recommended to us.
The suit and bridesmaids
Rich’s suit was from Palmers in Clapham Junction, London and the bridesmaids were grey Dessy ‘Twist’ dresses ordered from America.
Theme or colour scheme
A mixture of light grey, soft pink and creams.
We had lots of bunting and tissue paper pom poms!
The flowers were light pink piano roses, white stocks, cream lisianthus, blown sweet avalanche and avalanche roses with blue nigella tied with a wide soft pink ribbon.
We ate smoked salmon followed by beef wellington and lemon tart – delicious!
We had a cake table where guests brought cakes rather than having just one wedding cake.
Outside in the grounds we had croquet, skittles and boulles.
Buy or DIY your Stationery?
A bit of both! I made the Save the Dates and invites using Vistaprint and used powerpoint to do menus and orders of service. Etsy was great and we had crossword table mats ordered from there that went down very well.
Personal or handmade touches
As mentioned, the crossword table mats about us as a couple went down really well. Rich and I are mad on cats so cat name place holders were fun too. We had photos of family and friends who had gotten married on display. I’m a teacher and my class had made me some wedding bunting which was sweet.
Special moments or highlights
A highlight of the day was the ceremony, which I was dreading in case I just cried my way through it. Something clicked and I just loved it! We really enjoyed watching all of our guests have fun and mingle together.
How quickly it passes!
Advice for other couples
Just relax and enjoy it and try not to get too carried away with little details as only you will notice!
