Tessa and Christian’s Fun Filled, Gin Loving, Picnic Eating, Peaky Blinders Inspired Wedding Rave by All You Need is Love Photography

Happy Monday everyone, and how are you this fine Monday morning? I hope you had a good weekend? Mine was Christmas filled and full of seasonal cheer, I am now feeling well and truly festive and really looking forward to next few weeks of Christmas celebrations. Today I have one of the most fun weddings I have featured in a long time. Everyone is full of smiles and laughter, so much happiness from everyone involved. Tessa and Christian are such a fun-loving couple, their smiles and outgoing personalities are contagious and have made for amazing photos and the best party I have seen at a wedding for quite some time. Becki from All You Need is Love Photography has done a superb job in capturing the essence of the day.

A quintessential Yorkshire picnic holiday theme, Peaky Blinders, Flat Caps, boho and vintage inspired church wedding followed by epic 90’s rave!

Tessa and Christian were married on 21^st July 2018 at Holy Trinity Church in Skipton with the reception at Cracoe Village Hall also in Skipton. ‘Christian is a Skipton lad and I’m a York lass so the gateway to the Dales for our Yorkshire wedding seemed apt! We had 210 guests in the day and an extra 35 in the  evening, it took 18 months to plan.’

How they met 
One of our Bridesmaids, Corinne White introduced us at a mutual friend’s Nina Green’s birthday party 4 years ago.

The proposal
My sister and her husband, Emma and Jason Falconer live in Mauritius, in November 2016 along with my Dad and Step Mum the 6 of us where on a sunset cruise, the proposal was at the end of a funny poem, at Crystal Rock next to La Mourne.

How did you allocate your budget?
As our main aim was to celebrate with everyone we love we basically looked for bargains for most things…

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We saved on things like Crockery Hire (as it was a picnic theme we had bio degradable paper plates and wooden cutlery), we splurged on the vintage campervans, Music and the Marquee

How did you choose your photographer?
My sister Emma went to school with Becki and saw the sheer awesomeness on Facebook. We wanted to capture the feeling of the day with guests laughing or dancing their heads off!

The dress 
Dress phase 8, shoes ASOS & Converse, veil was what my Auntie Joanne’s and my sister Emma wore for their weddings and earrings are my mums

The suit And bridesmaids
The suit was Slaters and Bridesmaids Debenhams sale

theme or colour scheme
Blush pink to match the bridesmaids and duck egg green to match the campervans and burgundy ties for the ushers that matched the flowers brought it all together

Flowers 
The talented and genius Wendy and team at Hedgerow florist in Threshfeild went through a consultation with me, I explained the theme and that I wanted wild looking flowers and the colours – they did the rest, they were incredible!
Bride’s handtied bouquet – wild looking – country flowers including Limonium , Lavender, purple Veronica, deep pink Wax flower, Cream Roses, Rosemary, Eucalyptus and burgundy Amaranthus. I also have a rose gold locket containing two photos of my Nana, one from when I was first born and one from my 21^st Birthday.

Decoration
Bunting as far as the eye can see, gingham table cloths as the picnic theme (pink and duck egg), the centre pieces where 5 spirit bottles containing flowers by the florist on a wooden block and LED rose gold heart hearts (a gift from Mauritius) surrounding, our invite was a post card and all the guest rsvp’s were post cards from the place they live. I stuck these on hessian string and hung them in the village hall. I also had picnic baskets full of crisps, jam jars of flowers and hurricane candles. One of our friends Michael Barnes has a B&B called Deeley House who saved all the mini jam jars and another friend Vanessa Randerson made sloe gin, they were used to serve it in.

Food
Canapés, to start ham hock apricot and rosemary terrine, pistachio walnut crumb. homemade pickles including Mr Kenners Jerusalem Artichoke piccalilli… & Classic Goats cheese and Beets terrine – plus the usual Bears breads. For main Sausage & Cider casserole, roasted potatoes and salads. For pud Mr Pav; giant pavalovas, 1 for each table… nestled between the layers is cinnamon, star anise cream with dark fruits, blood orange cream with chocolate, and a classic chantilly with figs and honey. Topped with frozen raspberries, figs and popping candy.
For the evening guests we had a fish and chip van – looked great, went down a storm and self-contained so just drove away when done!

Lucy Locket DJ’d and the House Jammerz where our amazing band!

Who supplied the stationery?
I designed the Save the Date’s and the invite’s and a local printer printed them out.

Personal touches
As mentioned the post cards décor from the guests and the collected spirit bottles, a lot of friends and family helped too. Shona McIntosh did the table plans and we made the table numbers together, Tom Dalby designed the Order Of Service and wrote an incredible reading which he read in church (a magical amalgamation of Roald Dahl quotes), Lucy Ashworth (bridesmaid) designed the illustration of the campervan on the back of the Order of Service, which was personalised to us with Leeds United and Chimp bumper stickers and some of my Dad’s beer cans being dragged along.

Special moments 
Sharing some special moments with my Maid of Honour Kelly Booth and hilarious & amazing bridesmaids before the Church. Seeing little Elsie Moose (flower girl) in a matching flower garland to mine and her awesome Doc Martin pink boots with Hazza (page boy) in his flat cap, full tweed suit and converse kicks. The Service itself, Vicar Rev Horner was an absolute card and had everyone in stitches. All the speeches were belting, my Dads, Christians was a poem, my Uncles sang personalised words to the tune of ‘Footballs Coming Home’ and the Best Man & Women Mike and Sally Ormiston did an larger-than-life speech which involved many a prop and personal gags!
Music was a big factor to us, while the guests gathered in the church we had Belfast by Orbital playing, then entered the church to Let There be Love by Nat King Cole. Leaving the church we all danced down the isle to Signed Sealed Delivered I’m Yours by Stevie Wonder. Our first dance was You Got The Love by Candi Staton, which the legendary House Jammerz played as the last song!

Biggest surprise 
Sally’s Dad ‘Big Col’ who lives next to the hall bringing out some huge shot guns for some pics, not planned but very Peaky Blinders!
