Styling your wedding can be a mind filed when you first start looking into it. What theme will you pick that reflects you as a couple and how will you go about sourcing all the elements and pulling it all together? Today I would like to introduce you to Theme Queen, a new styling service that will do the hard work for you. Theme Queen is run by Liz who set the business up last year. She brings a wonderful collection of themed based items together that will make your wedding day look amazing. Everything you will need to style your wedding from card boxes, place names, menu holders, table decorations, you name it Theme Queen will supply it!
What made you start your business
I had my very own Art Deco themed wedding in 2013. It was a glorious day and many guests commented on the fabulously authentic detailing, but the preparation entailed spending weeks tracking down individual vintage glass bottles, cigarette cases and peacock feathers – which did get a bit stressful after a while! That’s why I was inspired to set up this site and make wedding preparation just a little bit easier for everyone.
When did you start
The site actually only launched just before Christmas – although prior to that I spent about 6 months carefully sourcing and curating the 5 core themes we offer.
Where are you based
Brighton – just moved down here from London and loving the bracing sea air!!
What sort of geographical area do you cover
Anywhere in the UK at the moment (we may ship to Europe in the future but at the moment we’re concentrating on home shores)
What were you doing before
I still have my ‘day job’ as a marketing consultant but hope to run Theme Queen full time once it takes off!
How would you describe your style
A mix of midcentury, industrial chic and rockabilly – (taking both interior décor and fashion into account!)
What is your biggest achievement so far
I would have to say managing to launch Theme Queen while having a full-time job, 2 year old twins and moving house!!
What makes you different to your competitors
Theme Queen’s ‘packaged’ approach is quite new and different – up until now, brides and grooms have had to source all the elements of their table décor etc individually themselves, which can be very time-consuming, or pay a wedding planner to do the whole shebang, which can work out rather pricey…
What do you enjoy most about your job
I think it’s knowing that I can help make someone’s ideal wedding day vision come to life, whilst also taking some of the stress out of the process for them.
What sort of couple do you think you attract
Not sure yet – time will tell!
What would be your ideal wedding to work on
I’m looking forward to the challenge of curating a really specific or obscure idea for a theme – for instance a vintage tv show that a couple really loves, or something like that, and bringing whatever is in that customer’s mind to fruition
Can you give me some information on your pricing structure
Prices vary depending on your choice of theme, and start from only £160 per table of 8 for the Rockabilly Retro package. Post boxes and wall decor are also available for each theme, for a small additional cost. We’re now starting to offer bespoke themes, where you tell us about a wedding theme that you have in mind that you don’t see on our site, and we help you make it a reality within your budget.
What is your ideal way to spend a day off
Shopping for home accessories… especially as I’ve just moved into a new house!
What can you never leave the house without
Probably the answer most people give – my iphone
Who would be your 5 dream dinner guests dead or alive
Elvis, Queen Elizabeth II, Deirdre from Coronation Street, Angelina Jolie and Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones
What would you do if you won the lottery
Quit the day job and run Theme Queen full time, plus open a retro furnishings store
If you weren’t running your business, what would you be doing
Probably planning and organising a series of renovations that need doing on my house… Victorian homes are lovely but high maintenance!
