DIY Tutorial: Pretty Scrappy Fabric Garland

DIY Tutorial

I have a brand new DIY expert to introduce to you today, and a brand new contributor to the DIY section of the Blog. Please make Emily Carlill from Love to Sew very welcome, as she will be joining us on a monthly basis to share with us her fantastic DIY ideas. After crafting her own DIY wedding in 2011, Emily Carlill now continues to make lots of items for other people’s weddings. She also makes up one half of Love Me Sew, a crafty business selling fabric, craft packs and running workshops. Emily is a DIY expert so she will be a wonderful new addition to the DIY Team.

Emily is starting off her series of DIY Tutorials with something super easy, in the form of these super easy scrappy fabric garlands, it’s one that everyone can do!

you will need

STEP 1) Cut a length of twine to your desired length

STEP 2)  Starting from one end of the twine (leaving a long enough piece to use for hanging). Tie a piece of fabric to the twine, making sure to tie the fabric so each loose end is a similar length.

STEP 3) Repeat the above step until all your fabric strips are used up or you have created a garland to your desired length.

  •  Tip: Although I randomly mixed my fabric strips, I made sure there was an even spread of colours and textures

STEP4)  Hang to decorate your venue in pretty colours!
