Marie and Alexander’s ‘Wild Yet Classy’ Outdoor Forest Wedding in Norfolk by Lisa and Neil

Today I am taking you to the gorgeous Norfolk countryside, for the wedding of Marie and Alexander. This laid back couple wanted a chilled, family friendly day, where they could spend time with their guests, while there was no child care stress. They did this by booking a nanny service to look after the guests children, which went down a treat. With a sage green and floral theme the decoration worked in harmony with the surroundings, giving a relaxed vibe and kept their gest relaxed and chilled. I do love a forest setting for a wedding, and Marie and Alexander certainly lucked out with the good old British weather! Lisa & Neil were there to capture the day for us, so big thanks to them.

A dreamy day that went too far to quickly! So much love and laughter with memories shared with people we will never forget

Marie and Alexander were married on 2nd August 2025 at Happy Valley, Norfolk. ‘Location was superb and close to where Marie grew up. Near the coast. Very wild yet classy, lots of trees, wanted it to feel like a mid summer nights dream. We had 120 guests and it took 6 months to plan.’

How they met
A dating app!  We’ve been together since 2019

The proposal
few bottles of wine deep on the terrace in our villa in the south of france with family overlooking the golden islands. It was a last-minute decision when I (Alex) found out Marie’s mother bought her grandmothers ring to the house, and it was too good of a chance to give up. Moon was out and it was stunning!

How did you allocate your budget?
By balancing different needs and wants and making compromises where necessary

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
Food and drink, decoration, is where we splurged the most. We saved on music as they were friends

How did you choose your photographer?
Went on google and looked through peoples work – we wanted someone who captured deep moments between friends and family that capture feelings. Plus they were funny and made us feel  very at ease

The dress
Dress: Shikoba Bride – Flora. Boots: Ariat Cowgirl boots with a Casanova toe

The suit and bridesmaids
Suit, Tailored by Trotter & Dean. Bridesmaids could bring their own style of dress in a sage colour

Theme or colour scheme
Sage was the main theme, floral was a sub theme

Flowers
All sorts of seasonal flowers, delphiniums, cosmos (we grew loads and loads and loads of these) sun flowers, dahlias, corn flowers

Decoration
All sorts, we worked with The Great Event company to turn a room into a cool snug as well as signage, the day prior to the wedding, we had turned the outdoor to a giant picnic with picnic baskets for each table to kick off the wedding weekend

Food
SOOO much! We had a suckling pig, leg of lamb, all sorts of large salads, oysters, cured sea trout, arancini. We really wanted it to be a buffet and for everyone to enjoy their meal at their own pace. Also, food at weddings is rarely executed well, and we wanted it to be high quality

Wedding cake
The Hazlebury Kitchen – shes the best! So so professional and high quality

Entertainment
TBF Lisa & Neil our photographers were fantastic entertainment!
We had a magician, a guitarist through the day (a friend of ours) and a funky dj (friend of ours too)

Who supplied the stationery?
Handmade by friends and family

Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We haven’t gone yet! Still to decide, we have two toddlers so umming and erring about taking them or not!

Personal touches
Most of the wedding! The venue was DIY so everything we had to do. The biggest task was growing the cosmos as we planted them in April, and managed to get 1000’s. The design to planning etc

Special moments
Marie: Getting ready with bridesmaids prior to ceremony and coming down the aisle with the horse. With Johnny Flynn music playing in the background (song from the detectorists)
Alex: Seeing our children go down the aisle before Marie. Very lucky we got to experience it with them

Advice for other couples
Let kids come! And get a nanny, best money spent was having a whole tent of dedicated nannies for ours and other guests’ children. A relaxing environment that kept everyone together & safe.

Biggest surprise
How when you blink, its all over
