Charlotte and Lee’s Colourful Mexican Themed Wedding in Gloucestershire by Gregg Kmita Photography

I love weddings with lots of colours and today’s wedding is just that! Charlotte and Lee have a love of colour since their first holiday together in Mexico. They wanted to reflect this in their Mexican Themed Wedding and their decoration speaks volumes. This whole wedding is full of colour from the most amazing rainbow bridesmaids dresses, to the paper lanterns, the flowers, the outdoor ceremony decoration, table plan….everything has been so well thought through and totally immersed in the Mexican carnival theme. Charlotte wears my favourite designer Rue De Seine and looks spectacular! What a wedding!! Gregg Kmita Photography was there to capture the day for us.

A sunny colourful fun day with everyone we loved. One big fabulous party with so much dancing, drinking and laughs!

Charlotte and Lee were married on 23rd July 2021 at Kingscote Barns, Tetbury, Gloucestershire. ‘We wanted a place where all of our family and friends could come and stay so it would be one big mini holiday. The lodges at Kingscote allowed for this. We loved the beautiful location as well as the rustic theme of the barn and knew we could make it our own. We ha 52 guests and it took around a year and a half to plan.’

How they met
We met when we worked at a shopping centre in shops next to each other and have been together for a big 10 years now!

The proposal
We went to New York for a short holiday, we were walking through central park and Lee mentioned we take a break and as we sat down I tuned round and he had ring!

How did you allocate your budget?
We allocated the main amount of the budget to the location and the food as well as the dress of course!

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We saved on the cake, as that was made by Lees’ mom and some of the decorations, as we got them off eBay and from local antique shops. We splurged on the band as well as the food.

How did you choose your photographer?
We wanted someone who created bright and colourful images to suite the theme of the wedding and Gregg definitely did that!

The dress
My dress was by Rue De Seine, as soon as I saw that designer I knew I wanted one for my wedding! I had minimal accessories but my jewellery was from Olivia Burton and my choose were ASOS.

The suit and bridesmaids
The suit was a mix match from ASOS to Ted Baker. The bridesmaid dresses took ages to find but were from Forever Unique.

Theme or colour scheme
Yes we had a bright coloured Mexican type theme, we wanted bright colours everywhere to give a sort of carnival feel as Mexico was the first place we went on holiday together.

Flowers
We had a whole mix of bright flowers with daisies and big sunflowers as well we cacti on the tables.

Decoration
We had coloured glass bottles on the tables with candles alongside the cacti, as well  colourful lanterns throughout the barn. At the alter we had colourful fans and ribbons mixed in with the flowers.

Food
We had a BBQ!

Wedding cake
The cake was Lego themed with us as Lego characters on the top as we’re both Lego fans, and had fruit and chocolate layers.

Entertainment
We had a fabulous band RIOT! for the evening as well as a great taxi Photo Booth from Taxi Snaps. We also had the amazing magician, Christian Fletcher, entertaining the guests in between the ceremony and the food.

Who supplied the stationery?
The stationary was supplied one of my best friends, bridesmaid and illustrator Kat Tromans. She really picked up our colourful theme.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to Disney World, Florida.

Personal touches
We made our table plan ourselves, painting a variety of antique frames in our colour scheme, and we also created all chalk boards for the table settings.

Special moments
The last song was definitely the highlight of the day the band played Oasis and everyone got up in a circle and danced together. A highlight for Charlotte was definitely getting ready with the bridesmaids and finally getting all of the dresses and the looks together.

Advice for other couples
Pay for things early if you can and don’t leave all the payments to the last minute. Also think of your wedding as one big party, your there with everyone you love, so just have fun!

Biggest surprise
The lovely the weather was, it was so hot we got to have the ceremony outside.
