My Photography Diary: A Weekend in Dorset 25th – 27th October

Entry 23 of my photography diary and this time it’s a weekend in Dorset and a trip to Durdle Door. Nik’s oldest and best friend Matt who is originally from Sheffield moved to Dorset while he was serving with the royal marines a few years ago. Since then he has met his wife Lucie bought a house and they now have a one year old son  called Sonny and two dogs, Copper and Stanley. Nik and I went down to Dorset in October to celebrate Sonny’s first birthday and to spend some time with Matt and Lucy. We had a great time and it was lovely to see Sonny, he is such a cute baby and so good! While we were there we took a little trip to Durdle Door on a very grey and incredibly windy day, I nearly got blown over trying to take these photos!

I have to admit I struggled with these photos, it was an incredibly dull and grey day, which I know is no excuse but it’s amazing what good light and good weather can do to the end result. I only used my 50mm as it was just to windy to change to my 28mm which admittedly would have given me a better over all photo of the Durdle Door scenery. I edited in light room and used Fuji Superia 400- mixed with my own variations of exposure, white balance, warmth and clarity.
