Alexis and Tyler’s Earthy Bohemain Outdoor Pennsylvania Wedding by Oakwood Photo + Video

Happy Thursday, and how are you today? We seem to be speeding through the week at the moment I can’t believe it’s Friday already tomorrow! Today I am taking you over to Pennsylvania for this most stunning wedding, courtesy of Oakwood Photo + Video. It’s a gorgeous Autumnal wedding with rich earthy tones of burgundy and grey which work perfectly against the beautiful backdrop of Alexis and Tyler’s outdoor ceremony. Filled with the most beautiful blooms this wedding is bursting with boho goodness, as well as some amazing rain dancing during the evening reception.

All of the details, decorations, friends, and family made our day Magical! We also watched a storm go around us as the ceremony took place so I would say it was a miracle day as well!

Alexis and Tyler were married on the 17th September 2016 at Château Bella Cheval in Titusville, Pennsylvania. ‘The venue was so gorgeous and romantic! We were able to get married under old oak trees with a great view of a wooded valley. The venue is also a horse farm so we had pretty horses and cute chickens in the background! We had about 270 guests and it took us almost three months to plan.’

How they met
We met at a church camp in 2010. We never started dating until 2012 so we have been together for four years.

The Proposal
Tyler gave me a date day coupon for Christmas and told me to make reservations to a fancy restaurant. I made reservations at 1201 Kitchen in Erie for January second. We got all dressed up and went there. When we got there the hostess told us that we were 2 hours early (Tyler called and changed our reservations) and there were no tables available. So we went to Starbucks for a snack and then headed to the peninsula to take pictures of the lights across the bay. At one of our stops I turned around to talk to Tyler and he was gone. Then after about a minute I realized he was kneeling behind me in the snow with a ring! I of course said yes!

How did you allocate your budget?
We had an amount of money that we could spend but we weren’t sure how to allocate it. Pinterest only gives you budget plans for 30,000 dollar weddings and that was not our case! We picked things we were willing to spend more on and tried to be frugal with the rest.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
I splurged on my dress, wedding party flowers and photographer. I saved by not having the reception catered. I went with “fancy” disposable dinnerware instead of the real stuff. I also bought bulk flowers for decorations and arranged them myself.

Why did you choose your photographer?
I had Oakwood Photo + Video take my senior pictures and loved them so much I knew I would have Alexa do my wedding! We love her style and how easy she makes it to be photographed.

The Dress
My dress was by Morilee from the Blu collection. My shoes were by Adrianna Papell. My Necklace was a LeVian chocolate diamond necklace Tyler gave me for my birthday. I also wore a ruby ring that was my great great great grandma’s engagement/wedding ring.

The Suit and Bridesmaids
The suits were rented from American Commodore Tuxedo Rentals. I purchased the bridesmaids dresses from lulus.com

Theme or Colour Scheme
We wanted our color scheme to be burgundy and grey. We also tried to work towards an earthy, woodsy, boho feel.

Flowers
Our bouquets had dahlias, mums, lisianthus, eucalyptus, dusty miller, white veronica, chocolate cosmos, and ranunculus. Our Florist was Timberland Florals in Conneaut lake, Pennsylvania.

Decoration
We had a lot of flowers! We used artificial eucalyptus garland with added real flowers and muslin fabric to hang. We also had tree branch tea candle holders.

Food
We had mac and cheese, baked beans, fruit salad, salad, a pig roast, deep fried turkeys, and french fries! We had an amish family make the sides, our friends and family cooked turkey and fries, and we had a pig roast guy come to do the pig.

Wedding Cake
The wedding cake was vanilla with raspberry filling and chocolate cake with chocolate mousse! Made by Darla Adams, Tyler’s boss.

Entertainment
We had a DJ. His name was Shawn Bradley and he was amazing not only did he do the music he kept all events on schedule!  His company name is Xtreme Sounds from Meadville, Pennsylvania.

Stationery
Alexa, from Oakwood Photo + Video designed our stationary and I had it printed from a company online.

Personal Touches
Tyler cut and drilled about 300 tree branches to make into tea candle holders. We also made custom napkin rings.

Special Moments or Highlights
Tyler’s highlight was that our guests continued to party even through the rain! My highlight was our first dance in the rain, so magical!

Advice for Other Couples
Don’t stress out!  Ask people for help! Assign helpers to be in charge of specific things. Most importantly remember, in the words of Tyler “Even if everything goes wrong, at the end of the day we will be married!”
