So when second best simply will not do, it’s time to seek out the best of the best. Here is a list of unadulterated luxury honeymoon accommodation to die for!
When it comes to mind-blowing scenery, it really doesn’t get any better than a water villa overlooking the never-ending Azure blue sea in The Maldives. Here, you can expect complete privacy away from other travellers. Most villas have their own private decking area and some even come with their own pool and Jacuzzi area which hangs magnificently over the sea. You won’t get closer to the water than this. This site has a run down of every water villa on the planet.
If 5 star isn’t enough, plan a honeymoon stopover in glamorous Dubai, the city of sheer luxury and opulence. Home to seven star establishments such as the Burj Al Arab and soon to be Pentominium, Dubai offers off-the-scale accommodation, quite literally. Standard rooms start at over £1,000 a night but amenities include the world’s largest team of 24 hour butlers, private dining, five head rain showers and full sized Jacuzzi tubs, luxury ‘his and hers’ Hermes toiletries, panoramic windows, widescreen TVs and 24 carat gold plated iPads, and a choice of 17 different types of pillows.
Island life is such a contrast to mainland Greece. Away from the hustle and bustle of Athens, you will find an endless choice of amazing islands, some more populated than others, some lesser known and off the beaten path, but all boasting their own unique charm. Some of the most romantic Greek islands include Santorini for its white-washed buildings and amazing sunsets or Paxi for its secluded beaches and quiet coves. One these islands, you will find luxury villas which boast their own pools and some even with their own spa facilities – perfect for a romantic getaway.
Thailand boasts a number of treehouse resorts with one in Chiang Mai (North Thailand), one in Bangkok, and one in Khao Sok (South Thailand). The great thing about these incredible resorts is that there are ranging price points and options for all budgets – but if you’re looking for the ultimate in jungle luxury, go for a deluxe treehouse suite or a honeymoon suite. Most will even offer air conditioning, TV and WiFi. And one thing’s for sure, you won’t beat the views elsewhere.
For couples who don’t like the norm, luxury ice hotels could provide something utterly unique and exciting. Do what no-one else has done before and spend a few nights sleeping in a lavish hotel carved completely out of ice! Scandinavia is home to a number of ice hotels, including Igloo Village Kakslauttanen (Saariselka, Finland), Snow Village (Kittilä, Finland), ICEHOTEL (Kiruna, Sweden) and Kirkenes Snow Hotel (Kirkenes, Norway). Deluxe rooms at the famous ICEHOTEL in Sweden for example are around £600 a night
