Christmas is coming (yes I am aware we haven’t had Halloween yet!) However if you are currently planning a Christmas wedding for this year or next you will probably be looking for some Christmas inspiration! Christmas weddings can be great fun, Lots of cosy outfits, twinkling lights, open fires……I just LOVE it! But how do you get your entertainment up to scratch and feeling festive? Today I have invited Richard from Alive Network onto the blog to tell us more about planning a Christmas wedding.
If you’re planning a winter wedding before December, don’t try to dodge the issue of Christmas, embrace it instead with your own yuletide themed wedding.
Create that special seasonal feel with festive entertainment that’ll put your guests in the Christmas spirit from the moment they arrive. The Christmas elves at Alive Network Entertainment Agency, the UK’s largest online entertainment agency, show you how…
Greet your guests with welcoming music as they arrive for your wedding ceremony. For intimate spaces such as registry offices choose a classical guitarist playing all your favourite Christmas music, from traditional tunes to pop classics, or a harpist with a wide repertoire from ‘Let It Snow’ to ‘Let It Go’ from Disney’s ‘Frozen’!
If you want to evoke the traditional sounds of Christmas, choose a quartet of carol singers, singing favourite carols and Christmas songs in gorgeous four-part harmony. Most carol groups offer a costume option, so they can appear in full Victorian/Dickensian dress or in more modern (and practical) jumpers, gloves and scarves. (If you ask them nicely, they’ll usually lead the hymns in a church service too!)
Deck your wedding ceremony venue with natural decorations made from holly, yew and mistletoe, then celebrate the season and your wedding vows with the all-natural sound of a live classical singer. With a singer leading the hymns in church, everyone will want to join in. Or, save the singer as a surprise for the signing of the register at a civil wedding ceremony or civil partnership, when your singer can entertain with classic Christmas songs.
Entice your guests into the warmth of your wedding venue with the irresistible smells of mulled wine and hot fruit punch, served by seasonally decorated living tables. Another wedding trend for winter 2014 is to tempt guests with steaming mugs of hot chocolate, with options extras such as marshmallows, chocolate flakes or even a tot of something alcoholic, served by ice themed or pantomime costumed characters.
Keep your drinks reception entertainment subtle so people can talk about how great you both looked! Book a Rat Pack singer with backing tracks to croon the Yuletide classics, or a laid back lounge band to play timeless Christmas hits gently in the background. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas already…
Chances are, if you have a lunchtime winter wedding, it’ll just be getting dark by the time the photos are taken and you actually get to sit down to eat. So celebrate that unique winter dusk with entertainment that lights up the room for all your guests! Choose a Christmas choir to sing a blast of feel-good music, or a singer/pianist for classic songs and personal requests. For a splash of sophistication, book a dance troupe to bring a touch of strictly glamour, or indulge in an explosion of feathers and sequins with a high-kicking showgirl troupe. Add a touch of genuine magic with a roving magician, performing seemingly impossible tricks right in front of your guests.
There’s something really special about a Christmas wedding party, and it’s not just the Santa hats! Book a rock and pop party band that play the classic cheesy Christmas tracks we all love to (try and) sing along with. Or go all retro with a disco funk band that play fabulous music and perform in outrageous 70s costumes and truly enormous hair! Why not go the whole hog and book a specialist Christmas party band, complete with dancers, singalong lyrics screens and (if you’ve been a good girl or boy all year) a ‘live’ satellite linkup with the big man himself, Santa Claus.
Make the most of winter’s starry skies with outdoor seating warmed by gas heaters or braziers, and a ready supply of cosy rugs to snuggle into. Entertain with fire and glow performers, crating intricate patterns from fire and sparks, or their indoor-friendly versions, LED light performers. Then, light up the night sky with a bespoke firework display to your favourite seasonal music, to send everyone into Christmas raptures.
