I have a stunning accessories and jewellery collection to introduce you to today, The very lovely Laurel Lime. Laurel Lime create vintage inspired wedding accessories and wedding jewellery, all of which are handmade from the studio in Birmingham. 50% of the work that Laurel Lime put out is bespoke, meaning that you can have your own custom piece made for your wedding day, safe in the knowledge that no other bride will be wearing the same piece. I have invited Becky from Laurel Lime onto the blog today to tell you a bit more about the company and also share with us some of her beautiful designs.
We’ve just launched our ‘Flowers and Lace’ Collection. It’s a small collection of pieces focusing on soft delicate lace fabric and silks, combining a more natural element of floral characteristics which are a perfect complement for our beautiful british spring and summer seasons.
What made you start your business?
It was quite an organic transition really. I had left my career in IT and was pregnant with my first child. I decided to focus on my jewellery design skills. Turning to bridal was unintentional actually, and just a gradual process of making jewellery that was quite suited to the bridal market.
When did you start?
The business was born in 2007 and i am based in Birmingham
What sort of geographical area do you cover?
I work from a design studio at home, where I do consultations for anyone who is able to visit Birmingham. I also sell worldwide from the website.
What were you doing before?
I worked in IT in the engineering industry and made jewellery as a side line.
How would you describe your style?
Everything is handmade at Laurel Lime, so no headdress or piece of jewellery is the same. I work a lot on commission basis so my style and inspiration is drawn from the bride and her ideas for a bespoke design. My style is, like my start into this business, quite organic; simple with a touch of romance. I don’t really switch off and ideas are constantly flooding my thoughts. All my designs have some sort of affirmation with a vintage era, as I have always had a passion for vintage jewellery and a great love of the 1920’s, 30’s, and 50’s all thanks to a glamorous grandmother.
What is your biggest achievement so far?
Becoming the Regional Winner for the West Midlands in The Wedding Industry Awards is a wonderful recognition of my work.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Meeting happy brides is really lovely, their enthusiasm and excitement gives me real inspiration.
What sort of bride do you think you attract?
A sophisticated modern bride that appreciates well made, hand made vintage styled accessories.
Can you give me some information on your pricing structure?
Our accessories start at £15.00 and headdresses from £80.00 upwards. Bespoke work is dependent on the designs.
What is your ideal way to spend a day off?
Mooching around antique shops which is a bit more difficult to do now with two small children, but we try to squeeze it in on odd days.
What can you never leave the house without?
Vaseline lip balm and hand cream!
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Move back to the seaside, where I grew up. I’d still be running my business, but it would be even nicer to be working, and looking out onto a bay with that amazing smell of coastal beaches.
If you weren’t running your business, what would you be doing?
I’d probably still be working in the jewellery industry somewhere, making something.

What beautiful jewelry. It is incredible that Laurel makes all of it by hand! I love the way the jewelry enhances the beauty of the bride instead of competing with her for attention. Love, love, love.
