Steph and Will’s Relaxed Country Wedding With a Touch of Floral Luxe and Vintage Lace. By Jordanna Marston

Happy Monday everyone and how was your weekend? I do hope you had a good one? Mine was lovely filled with a bit of work then some chill out time, the cinema, time with friends and a massive Sunday lunch, perfect! This week I’m back on track with my normal blogging schedule after things have been a little off track over the last couple of weeks. I’m starting the week with this gorgeous country wedding, which is full of wonderful flowers, vintage crockery, lace, colour and a whole heap of fun. Thanks to Jordanna Marston for the images.

‘Relaxed country feel with a touch of floral luxe and vintage lace. A collaborative effort from friends and family to create a day that truly reflected the personality and love of the couple “

Steph and Will were married on 13th July at St Remigis church in Roydon with the reception in a meadow next to brides Parents’ house. ‘We had 135 guests with 200 for the evening. We purchased our first house in January 2012 and set the date for July 13th 2013.’

How they met
I was 16 when I became friends with will and after ferrying me around to gigs, beach side camping and friends’ houses our relationship developed quickly. After ten years of becoming adults together, we look forward to a future were we will grow old together.

The proposal
I went to Australia with my best friend (Our florist) to visit our other pea in a pod friend, this was quite a big thing as at this point we had not spent more than a few nights away from each other, the trip was five weeks all together and Will obviously missed me lots. After a twenty hour flight and an hour wait on the runway, I waddled off the plane, my legs hugely swollen and my frustration at breaking point. Our bags were the last to come round on the conveyor belt. I walked through to the arrival lounge feeling exhausted and as glamorous as the elephant man. As we embraced he whispered in my ear that while I was away he asked my dad a question. He got down on one knee and opened a black velvet box, inside was the most beautiful ring, he had also decorated the box with glitter, never one to miss an opportunity to custom something and knowing my love for all things sparkly. My eyes lit up before welling up with tears of joy. it was so overcome with emotion I turned and walked away a few steps with my head in my hands. Leaving him kneeling there with all eyes on him waiting for the answer. He prompted me for a reply and as my friend stood sobbing and a crowd around us applauded I answered “yes”.

The photographer
A friend and I went through a list of photographers listed on a vintage wedding show website. After looking at all the websites I very quickly settled with Jordanna. She captured the light in people’s eyes, the laughter lines on their faces the love in the hearts and the joy of the moment with a realness that was stunningly beautiful to me.

The Dress, shoes and accessories
My dress was Charlotte Balbier, the shoes I found through a company called the wedding company. My jewellery was a collection of family heirlooms and precious pieces of my own.

The suit and bridesmaid’s
The suits were all chosen individual using a light grey as the linking theme. Will had decided that a three piece was his preferred choice and after a few more shopping trips than me found a suit from Debenhams.
The bridesmaids chose their own dresses and the flower girls dress was chosen from Ted Baker.

Theme
I did not have a colour scheme or even a particular theme but it formed fluidly from my eclectic tastes and imagination to be a vintage country fair feel with the odd flurry of lushness from the beautiful flower arrangements and the detail on the bone china crockery on the tables. The large 16 foot silver birch trees around the marque poles and the scattering of coloured paper lanterns over the dance floor were to give a fun and quirky feel to go with the colourful merriment we anticipated.

The Flowers
The flowers were a gift from my very talented maid of honour an independent florist. Sarah Martin of Amity, I wanted to let her create whatever she imagined and to have the opportunity to have free reign as to how it would look. Trusting her talent was not a difficult thing to do and added to the excitement and the surprise element of the day.

Food
We started with canapés of prawns, devils on horse back, babaganoush cruditere, and mini Yorkshire pudding with roast beef. We then sat down for a buffet of cold meats and delicious salads, buttered potatoes and poached salmon. chilli Mayo and home-made chutneys. We then had an old fashioned ice cream cart supplied by ronaldo’s of Norwch. We collected glass ice cream dishes and arranged a table of sprinkles and sauces for a nostalgic knickeerblockery pudding. Later on we cut the cake, this was served with tea and coffee.
To keep the crowds going we bought out a cheese table, with bread and crackers, chutneys and jams and a huge calved out melon over flowing with fruit. Yummy!

Beautiful location! Everyone seems to be on top of the world and having lots of fun! Great us of the tractor, too. I imagine it’s not put to this kind of use often. VW mini-wagon and peace symbols suggest the inner hippie residing in the soul of many of the guests. Great pics!
