Victoria and Steven’s Lemon Yellow London Wedding. By Jackson & Co

As you may well well know yellow is my favourite colour, so when Michael from Jackson & Co Photography told me he had a yellow wedding that he had shot in London for me, I knew instantly that I would want to share it with you.  Coupled with the fact that the couple are called Mr and Mrs Lemmon, well what other colour choice was there for them? This wedding really doesn’t disappoint, it is bursting with yellow goodness, from the flowers to the flower girls to the BIG balloons, to the favours, so full of cheer and happiness! I love it!

‘The day arrived, the planning was over, we felt so happy and relaxed, blessed with amazing weather and surrounded by all our friends and family we love. It was such fun from start to finish, wish we could do it all over again!’

Victoria and Steven ‘Lemmon’ were married on 29th June 2013 at St Benet’s Church, Kentish Town, with the reception at The Old Kitchen and Brew House, Hampstead Heath. ‘It was the best date suitable to get all our family and friends together. As we wanted to get married as soon as possible, some friends and family had already booked their summer holidays and we wanted to work around them to make sure they could all attend! We had 135 guests and it took 5 months to plan.’

How they met
We met at work and have been together for 7 years

The proposal
We were driving to my brothers in Kent for Christmas dinner. Steven proposed in the Blackwell Tunnel on route. Our 3 year old daughter called out, ’don’t forget about me!’. From then on, it was our Lemmon wedding. Cassie still refers to it as ‘when we got married’.

How did you allocate your budget?
Dress, Drink, Food, Flowers, Rings were our priorities and main expense!

The dress
My dress was from Kate Halfpenny, Shoes by Rupert Sanderson, Gold bangle was a gift from Stevens Aunty Millie. Pearl earrings dyed yellow were a gift from Steven from Kempton Park Antiques market. Something borrowed was a gift from my flower friend Fiona, hand made by Faulkner and Carter

The suits and bridesmaids
Bespoke, all made to order from Stevens work.
The eldest flowergirls chose their own dresses from ASOS and the younger ones were from Tulip and Nettle, 100% silk, made in England.

Theme or colour scheme
Everything had a slight touch of LEMMON yellow!

Decoration
At the entrance to the church and reception – huge garlands of variegated ivy and fresh lemons!
Terracotta pots of hydrangea plants on the outside tables.
Decanters of flowers on the windowsills in the bar and disco area.
Giant hand made letters covered in moss and fairy lights.
Vintage milk bottles dotted along the lengths of the trestle tables in the main dining room.
Yellow stripy straws for the prosecco on the bus.
Giant yellow balloons.
Yellow stripy sweetie bags with confetti in.

Food
Family style eating, platters of BBQ meats, cheese skewers and giant burgers passed around the tables with seasonal salads and potato wedges.

Entertainment
An acoustic Parisian jazz style trio with a squeeze box for the drinks reception and DJ Tony from the Dublin castle in Camden for the evening party – he was brilliant!

Flowers
White and Cream flowers with a slight hint of yellow. David Austin Roses, Scabious, Larkspur, Chamomile daisies, English Marguerites, freesia with textures of seasonal foliage throughout.

Personal or handmade touches
• Homemade lemon shaped biscuits made by my sister in laws served on the buses.
• Our wedding cake was made by my mother-in-law. Three tiers of delicious fruit cake.
• Confetti was dried by myself at home and placed in little bags for the guests to throw outside the church.
• Wooden signs were placed on the path leading down to the reception. Made by Steven, painted with lemons all over them.
• Flowers all made by myself and group of very brilliant flower friends.
• Invitations were designed by Steven with finishing touches, ribbons, stamps, and itinerary put together by myself, Cassie and Steven!
• Church service, printed with lemon design on background.
• Route planned out by our bus made nephew Lewis. He printed a map of the route with pictures of historic facts on the way to Hampstead Heath.
• Party bags were handmade by my sister in Law for all the children with a giant lemon and names embroidered on.
• Table favours of lemon soaps, tied with yellow butchers string, luggage tags and stamped with names on.

Special moments
The entire church service. Sitting down to eat and watching everybody in the room!

Advice for other couples
If you can, prolong the day as long as possible, arrange a get together the following day or even go for a two day wedding! You spend so long planning the occasion, you want it to last as long as possible!
Get someone to do your make up for you! I planned to do my own and in the last week had a panic and managed to get a friend to help me. It was the best decision as could sit back and watch the chaos around me whilst being pampered!

Biggest surprise
The entire day was a total surprise. We both felt so unbelievably relaxed and at ease.
