Boho Loves: The Paper Girls – Brand New Courses for Budding Stationery Designers

Today it’s a break from the normal wedding chatter as I would like to draw your attention to my friends Abigail Warner and Lucy Ledger (the clever designer behind this very blog) and their newly launched The PaperGirls workshops.

Are you a budding Stationery Designer?  Do you already own a stationery business but feel you need a bit of help with the business side of things?  Or are you a small business owner needing help with your PR? Well I have just the thing for you!  Paper Girls are successful workshops set up for anyone looking to build a business in Stationery Design. With a string of successful workshops behind them in 2012 and over 95 students having attend courses up and down the country, they have now added new and exciting courses to their long list of ever popular options.

The Paper Girls events are inspirational and motivational workshops and online courses for creatives. The girls have run courses in Business, Design, are hosting their first one day festival on the 26th July, PaperFest, and are now expanding their course portfolio to include masterclass and their hugely popular sell out ‘Fabulous in Business’ course aimed at designers wanting to break into the stationery industry is being launched online in September.

The online Fabulous in Business course is an inspiring and not to be missed four-week course taking you through all aspects of running a design and print based business. The course would be absolutely perfect for you if you are thinking about starting your own business, are in the very first stages or if you just want some no-nonsense, friendly and super helpful advice, hints and tips and most of the advice from this savvy design pair would work for any small creative business owner.

Week One is all about building business foundations for a super successful brand…

  • Setting up your business in a competitive environment, being original in business and finding your style, business legalities
  • Copyright and Trademarks, accounting and VAT , managing your overheads

Week Two is all about managing your online and business “you”…

  • Getting the message right on social media, managing your brand ID, super successful PR and marketing, attracting the perfect clients
  • Working with your clients and design collaborations

Week Three is all about being an operational god or goddess…

  • Managing your print, printing in-house and outsourcing, working with your printer, your team and picking your suppliers, time management and managing your design and print schedule

Week Four is all about the dollar…

  • Pricing your product to sell at a profit, selling to trade, to show or not to show (trade, retail and weddings) and working with agents, distribution and licensing

As well as weekly course notes there will also be lots of super helpful downloadable resources including stock control spreadsheets, Invoice examples, press release templates, press loan notes and our Little Black Book of Suppliers and an online support forum.

The first class opens on 2nd September for four weeks and all downloadable materials including course, notes, examples and homework will be made available on-line each Monday {2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd of September}

But if you are not a stationery designer but do want some help and insider information about getting your name out there, then the PaperGirls PR Masterclass – suitable for any small business – will be running in London on the 5th September 2013.

Spend the day with the girls on an interactive PR masterclass, hosted in collaboration with Something Blue PR, where you will be given honest advice, tips, skills, and knowledge so that  you can *successfully* manage a really great PR campaign for your business.

This workshop is for you if you want free editorial, with a potentially great return on investment, raising your profile and credibility would really help your business and lots more sales would be pretty good right now but you are a little shy about telling people how fabulous you are but want to spread the word about your gorgeous products, but don’t know where to start
