‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ – Purple Ombre & Retro Rainbow a Look a 2013 & 2014 Wedding Trends

As a wedding Planner and a Blogger, brides and grooms are always asking me about trends and fashions in the wedding world. It’s part of my job to keep up to date with what is new and hot in this crazy wedding land, which is why I love receiving emails like the one that is the result of this post. My Good friends at Ava Event Styling decided to work together with a collection of other amazing wedding suppliers and pick out 2 hot trends for 2013/2014. I was so delighted when the email containing all these beautiful images, courtesy of Nicola from Daffodil Waves landed in my inbox, so if your currently thinking about trends and styling for your own wedding, this post is just for you.

All Things Bright and Beautiful - A Styled Shoot

All Things Bright and Beautiful - A Styled Shoot

They entitled  the shoot ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ and it is full of colour, elegance and fun! I am a BIG lover of colour at the moment, so these ideas are right up my street. They mix in classic styling with a more modern contemporary look, so there really is something there for everyone. The team did a wonderful job and the attention to details is superb. They even put together a behind the scenes video, so you can see how the two looks were created.

Amanda from Ava Event Styling tells us the thought behind the shoot………..

We decided on ‘colour’ being the theme of our shoot as it is strong trend for 2013 and we are sure it will extend into 2014 weddings and beyond.
We chose to use colour in two very different ways, firstly incorporating the continuing trend for, all things ‘ombre’ but show-casing it in a very elegant, decadent way. And secondly, using a spectrum of bold, rainbow colours in a very fun and uncluttered way.
We used Pintrest to gather all of our inspiration; which proved to be a fantastic way of communicating of our vision, as despite the fact that most of us are based in and around Birmingham, we worked with other suppliers based as far away as Cambridge and the Lake District.

Purple Ombre

The key look for the ‘ombre’ table was a very layered, glamorous, vintage style, as we’ve seen a definite shift from the ‘village fete’ and vintage crockery trend towards a more sophisticated version of ‘vintage’.
All of the products in the tablescape were silver and we used we a mixture of genuine vintage containers and reproduction mercury glass. The floristry consisted of lots of big blousey garden roses, lisianthus, September flower and eucalyptus. The colour palette ranged from a dark ‘bluey’ purple through to cream.
The scheme was finished off with elegant, ombre calligraphy and table stationery. Macarons were wrapped in printed tissue paper, personalised with ‘Love is Sweet’ message.

Retro Rainbow

Our second theme had an entirely different look as we only used tulips, in colours of the rainbow. Each colour block was displayed in an original 1940s / 50s mantle vase which gave a really impactful look. We loved the contrast of contemporary blocks of colour, mixed with the curves of the retro hardware.
We shot the rainbow tablescape on pure white linen first and then layered up the look with coloured linen napkins and a runner. As a final look we introduced white glass pieces and ceramic bird vases.
The sherbet table gift acted as a place name marker and co-ordinated with fun, rainbow stationery. We also incorporated button badge favours and personalised tins that could be used as place names for an escort table; by attaching balloons to the tins you can use them to create your table centrepiece.
Whilst we hadn’t planned on styling a shoot in the snow in late March, the vivid colours really popped out against the white background!
