This afternoon I would like to share with you a bit more information about Jane Alexander one of my Shiny Happy Sponsors. Jane is based in Surrey and has been tacking wedding photographs for the past 10 years. I had the pleasure of meeting Jane at the Designer Vintage Bridal Show when she cane as a visitor last year and also earlier on in the year at the 2012 Wedding Industry Awards, as she was one of the official photographers.
I’ll let Jane tell you a bit more about her and her work.
What started me off was following in my father’s and grandfather’s footsteps as they were both very keen amateur photographers. I was given my first camera at 11 and I’ve still got the photographs of my teddy bears sitting in the garden in an album!!
I was always the one with the camera at school and then at parties. There are so many dodgy pictures that I’ve still got and thankfully I’m not in any of them!
I then went travelling in my 20’s and that is when photography changed for me. Just watching people in these amazing countries and capturing their day to day lives. When I came back I was determined that this was what I was going to do and eventually started working with a photographer on the local papers. He trained and mentored me and what a learning curve it was when one minute I’d be taking pictures of celebrities and Royals and then the next minute I’d be at a summer fete!! I did this for 12 years and all situations were covered so when I decided to concentrate on weddings it was a natural progression as I love working with people.
It’s now 10 years that I’ve been capturing people’s weddings and I love it and always feel it is a real honour to be there for them. Not only am I the photographer but there have been many times I’ve helped the guys with their button holes and the brides with the ribbon on their dresses.
Photography Style
My style of photography is contemporary/reportage – to make sure that the day has been captured with all the details you put in to it and to catch your guests at their best, beautiful pictures of the couple whilst making sure I don’t miss out the parents. When you look back at the pictures it brings back memories of the whole day as I stay up until the first dance.
I never tire of being at so many weddings as they are really all so special. I love meeting everyone and am so proud to be able to create a set of pictures that a couple are going to be looking at with their families for many years.
Pricing
The cost of the day from the bridal preparations until the first dance is £1,250. The images are provided on a disc, put on line for guests to see and up to 100 prints are printed for the couple. If there is a winter wedding or a smaller do just give me a buzz. I also love travelling around the country to new venues.
