Spring weddings have a certain magic about them. But if you’re tying the knot in early spring here in the UK, you already know the season doesn’t always behave the way we’d like. The weather can still feel brisk, and those dreamy spring vibes you’ve been pinning might be hard to find in real life.
The good news? You can create that unmistakable spring feeling, even when the forecast leans more toward winter than warm. With the right details and a sprinkle of creativity, your celebration can still feel bright, fresh, and full of seasonal charm (no matter what the temperature says!).
Here’s how to bring spring to your wedding day, even if the outdoors hasn’t quite caught up yet.
When spring hasn’t fully arrived, your venue becomes your greatest ally. Look for spaces with large windows or views that suggest spring, even if the flowers are still hitting snooze.
Ariana Straznicky, Founder of Ariana Strings, notes, “The key is giving your guests a connection to nature in strategic hints throughout the wedding day. Choose spaces with big floor-to-ceiling or panoramic windows with garden views like stately homes, seaside mansions, and conservatories, so the great outdoors becomes your backdrop without needing to step into the chill.”
If you’ve already chosen your venue, don’t worry! You can still play up whatever nature is offering. Ask your coordinator about using areas with the best light for key moments like your ceremony or cocktail hour.
Whimsical pastels, fresh greens, and even pops of coral can bring instant spring energy to your day. Consider your palette your own curated version of the season.
“Spring 2026 color trends are all about mixing soft pastels with unexpected bolds,” confirms Amos Gott, Chief Event Architect at AmosEvents. “Imagine blush paired with citrusy orange, or lavender alongside a splash of emerald. Spring is the season of renewal, so couples should not be afraid to play with palettes that feel fresh and a little daring.”
Even a touch of colour in your linens, bridesmaid dresses, or stationery can shift the entire mood. And if you love neutrals, you can still achieve a spring feel by layering textures and adding subtle hints of warmth. The key is choosing colours that make you feel the optimism of spring, even if the weather is stubbornly stuck in February!
Since real spring blooms may be late to the party, building a slightly larger floral budget can make all the difference. Florists can help recreate that lush, seasonal feeling with a mix of early-blooming flowers and thoughtful styling.
McKenzi Taylor, Founder/Owner of Gather After, says, “Make room in your budget for lots of extra flowers. Even if you’re not booking a venue for your special day that can handle forcing bulbs in their flower beds, you can still add cut flowers to the landscape, hardscape, or tablescapes. The more flowers you have the more it will feel like spring, even if the springtime thaw is still a couple of months away.”
And don’t forget the power of greenery and floral substitutes. Branches, foliage, potted plants, and even flowering bulbs can mimic the feeling of a garden coming back to life.
Nothing says spring quite like the flavours of the season. Offering a signature drink that leans into those refreshing flavours is an easy way to make guests feel spring from the very first sip.
“Also, give guests a spring cue they can taste, like a citrus spritz, mint lemonade, or a basil mocktail says new season faster than any sign,” shares Craig Peterman, Photographer & Videographer at Craig Peterman Photography & Videography.
You don’t have to overhaul your entire bar to make it feel seasonal. A few thoughtful additions, like edible flowers or a playful spring-themed drinks menu, can bring a lovely touch of personality.
Your décor is one of the easiest ways to infuse spring into your wedding. Think soft fabrics, delicate patterns, and garden-inspired table settings.
Sara Landon, Owner & Principal Planner at Sara Landon Events, adds, “Beyond color, décor is what brings the season to life. Budding branches, early blooms, and airy fabrics add movement and texture. Layered candlelight creates the soft glow spring is known for, even when the temperature outside says otherwise.”
Remember: These touches don’t need to be over the top. They simply need to evoke the essence of spring, elevating your celebration without relying on the outdoors.
Even when you’re striving for that airy spring aesthetic, comfort matters. Adding a few cosy touches ensures guests stay warm while still enjoying the seasonal atmosphere.
“Be mindful of the possibility of rain by preparing backup options, such as a tent or marquee, a covered patio, or an indoor room on standby,” recommends Maria Villanueva, PR Manager at Peach Perfect Weddings. “Additionally, offering thoughtful comforts like outdoor heaters, blankets, or shawls can help keep guests cozy during the reception if it gets chilly once the sun sets. These practical touches allow the celebration to feel spring-inspired while keeping everyone comfortable.”
And cosy doesn’t have to mean wintery. Choose textures and colours that still feel fresh: soft blush blankets, natural woven accents, or creamy knits that look intentional within your palette.
Bringing a spring feeling to your wedding isn’t about relying on perfect weather but creating an atmosphere that feels fresh, hopeful, and uniquely you. Lean into the parts of the season that inspire you most, and your day will bloom beautifully in its own way!
